Are carnuaba waxes an obsoleted car-care product?? (Continuing on the great debate...)

^ you guys would LOVE NaviWax Ultimate. It's very Collinite 915 "like"; but it's just better than 915 - if you can believe it. It costs more. Since nobody really distributes this stuff in the USA, you have to order it from Europe. But, I think you can get it through Ebay now.

I tried to get AG to carry it - but nobody seemed interested.

Sorry, yeah..some bad news guys. The report just came in declaring waxes obsolete. I'm not even going to try arguing with it; after all, it's just a piece of paper.
I gotta run, but I'll post my address later where you can send the waxes to. I'll even pay you for them.
Thanks again,
Justin

I saw the waxes in the meueam next to the dodo bird. All extinct species. Have seen a Swiss wax detail in a long long time have you Too bad I liked their pheu

I still use carnauba, on the right vehicle. It's not a car that people take out in the elements. Garage queens, "car porn" look great with some fresh carnuba. Its not about anything but the look. I wouldn't waste my time on a daily driver, but those that like the deep rich warmth of carnauba for their show cars. I'm all about it, I'll menzerna sf4500 that paint, and apply some carnauba by hand a couple times a year for you. You'll pay deeply for my efforts for the short term results.

It's a 'cute' but nearly pointless debate...especially for 'Autopians'. Anyone on this site is to one degree or another obsessed with paint correction/protection and will likely invest whatever time and money that's necessary to maintain a shiny, clean ride...and the compliments that go with it. (I'm remembering a couple of times I gave co-workers a ride and they commented on how immaculate the ride was...I guess they mostly rode around in rolling trash bins!)

I think we can say that carnuba yields a deeper, brighter shine, but is somewhat short lived. Sealants and polymers have a softer sheen but last longer.
So what's most important - a brighter shine or a longer, better protection? 'Bright shine - long lasting' ("Great taste - less filling").
For some Autopians, 'waxing' once a month (or more) is no big deal. For others, perhaps obsessed, but more 'lazy', continue to search for the holy grail of a good look that lasts a long time...only achieved by a sealant or polymer coating.

So it's really just a choice. today's shine vs. tomorrow's longer term protection. Each will have it's defenders but neither is right or wrong.

Now I live in the northeast, where the weather is crappy (including real WINTER) 8 months out of the year. So I will invest [more] time weekly in spring/summer, but come fall, I need the best long term protection I can get with weekly trips to the PW bay.

Nuttin like the look !!!

Somewhere in the five pages of this thread I suppose we discussed the way that some waxes provide *better* etching protection than some sealants...at least under some circumstances (gee, note all those qualifiers).

Swanicyouth- In what way to you consider NaviWax Ultimate "better" than 915? Not that I've ever used 915 or expect to ever try another LSP in this lifetime...just curious.

on my garage queens which are mostly italian i have used zymol hd clense, 3m imperial hand glaze and zymol ital for 20 years. the cars always look like they`re dripping wet and most of them dont see daylight more than a cple times a year.

the bigger challenge/dilemma ive had is what to do with the daily drivers. ive tried modesta, opti, and a 3rd ceramic. my DDs get put through car washes during the NYC winters and im not convinced there is a right answer. Leaning back towards sealants as the ceramics havent really impressed me.

but to answer the OP question, carnuba in my opinion is alive and well for anyone whose first priority is color/shine and doesnt care about protection from the elements.

Is the NaviWax similar to the Soft99 Fusso Coat? (I picked that up recently but have not had a chance to try it yet)

I don’t think so. Fusso is a sealant from what I gather. Navi is nuba + God knows what. Navi is easy to apply & remove - I don’t think Fusso is. Navi beads really well 5 mos or so. It’s a pleasure to work with & tin is 280g ~ >9oz.

Worth $100 considering some of the other meh waxes selling in that price range that last a few weeks

Fusso is easy if you apply to one panel and immediately buff it off. Do not let it haze over.
Long lasting but for me it needs Kiwami or something similar over it for more gloss.

Thank you both on the fusso coat feedback!
I`ll definitely do some testing with it. Will look into naviwax as well.
