I`m soon going to apply the Klasse two-step products to my VW Golf. I`ve been told by some that applying Imperial Hand Glaze before the Klasse will prevent the Klasse from adhering properly to the paint. Others have commented the combination works well.

What`s the consensus here? Should I just wash and use Klasse (perhaps with some Mequire`s swirl remover after the wash)?

If you have swirls or minor scratches you want to `not see`, I`d recommend polishing them out instead of filling/hiding them with IHG. I don`t know for sure if IHG will harm Klasse`s bonding, but my thought would be yes. IHG is loaded with oils and fillers to cover swirls and having that between your paint and the acrylic just dosen`t sound like a good combo.

IHG was one of the products of choice a long time ago on this board. Do a search and you will probably find more information about it than you ever cared to...

I`m not much help at this hour...

Klasse will just strip off the IHG with its solvents and cleaners, so all you are doing is wasteing your time. If it dosen`t do this, the IHG will definately hinder bonding. IHG is designed to be used with carnubas, or by itself for a quick temporary shine up.

I just used IHG on my friends Jaguar XK8 at the Jaguar Concours last weekend. It works great but is a temporary solution.

It is not to be used with any sealants because, as everyone has mentioned, it will hamper the bond.

What about using IHG after Klasse, before applying the topper wax?? Klasse should be able to bond right??

    Brad,

Did the IHG over Klasse do any damage to the Klasse? I remember Ron saying that IHG has some solvents in it that actually eat away at sealants like Klasse and Zaino.

I used this on my BMW for close to two years. No problems at all.

Thanks yet again Brad!! I don`t know why the general opinion of the product has diminished in recent months. I happen to find the product to work very well, and lasts longer than most claim. It lasts more than one wash, for me anyways. Well, thanks again Brad!!

The Jag (pictured above) was done three weeks ago and has been through two washings and two rainstorms. It had a lot of swirls that are still hidden by the IHG. It is holding up well. It will likely get touched up this weekend.

I have been using the Microfiber chenille wash pad, Sheepskin wash mitt and a sponge. Not all 3 at a time but I do use them when needed.

Different mitts for different applications... on my DD pickup with wide expanses of sheetmetal I use a sheepskin mitt. On my GF`s Hyundai SUV with lots of nooks and crannies I use a dreadlock MF chenille mitt. With ONR I use a Lowe`s ProLine grout sponge. I also have some old, grungy OTC, el-cheapo sheepskins dedicated to wheels and under the hood.

I use one of our Natural Sea Sponges for everyday washing and an occasional use of the Lake Country Gold & Yellow Ulti-Mitts. The Super Soft Gold for the paint work and the Yellow for the rims and wheel wells.
