I think that it deserves an entirely new Autopia thread about the do/don`ts about buying a 4-post lift for residential use. When the lift works, it`s great. Oil changes have never been easier.
Please give some advice on that Dean-that would be helpful.
I was just wondering yesterday about how you were doing. Thanks for more pictures. Your garage is the Buckingham Palace for cars.
I really like how the concrete floors turned out. Show us your product collection/sink area at the other end when you have a chance...

Dean, thanks for the updates. Is the first car in the bigger garage a 350Z ?
That is some car collection
I also would like to know about your experience with the lift.
I`ve been following this thread for quite awhile now. That garage looks amazing. I wish i had the problem of choosing between those cars in the morning.
Is that a Canadian R? or did you switch out the seats?
Thanks to all for your replies and comments.
Yes, I have a 2003 Nissan 350Z Track model and a 2001 Canadian-spec Acura Type R with 13k km (about 8k miles). I love all the cars, so there`s no "favorite."
Rotary lifts have an excellent reputation, but you must realize that the "Revolution" Rotary lifts are consumer level products that are sold directly from Rotary. Professional installation is highly recommended.
Unfortunately, I`m having a terrible time getting the lift to function properly. Basically, it won`t lock in the highest position (about 63"). This limits the ability to store cars over 57" high. The installers and the manufacturer can not seem to fix the problem. Very frustrating. Maybe I should have gone with a Bend-pak lift, or a "real" Rotary lift.

UPDATE: May 15, 2005
Greetings everyone. Good news. The Rotary lift is working perfectly. It`s absolutely amazing how easy oil changes can be when you have your own lift! Now time to tackle a full undercarriage detail for my 1987 Porsche. I think QEW would work well for an "indoor" wash.
My favorite new garage detail tool is this Retracta Auto-rewind hose reel. It saves a great deal of time reeling up the water hose. It`s available from www.outdoordecor.com for about $189.00 Griots sells it as well.
From the very start of my house plans, I wanted a separate utility or tool room to keep bikes, garden equipment and other stuff. The red arrow indicates where the room is:
The utility room is only 11` by 12 feet with a 12 foot ceiling. To maximize storage I went with Gladiator garage trim wall panels with many different hooks and hangers. Gladiator make some quality garage products, but it`s a bit pricey.
To save on valuable floor space, the bikes are on pulley storage systems (about $24 from Target). I also went with 8 ft high utility shelves from Lowes.
The utility room opens to the backyard with double doors. Notice that I don`t have a lawn mower? After spending too much of my youth mowing lawns, I vowed that my grass cutting days are over.
The 2-car garage has the main "detailing center" near the door. Nothing fancy. Plastic "Acrobins" are used to separate the products into approprtiate categories. The bottom shelf is designed to be a "drip tray" to allow sponges and brushes to drip down on the floor. The Armor All detailing cart has wheel and tire cleaning products. The portable XM satellite radio really makes garage work more entertaining also.
`nuff for now.

Very nice Dean. Man that lift must really come in handy in so many ways. Everything looks awsome!!
Could you please adopt me?
Looking great Dean!
Thanks for the update. I`ve been thinking about one of those hose recoilers myself...
