If one was to use a 3 step product could one elinimate the polish,if one was not looking for more shine? i dont get this thing where polish feeds the paint oils does it really need these oils or can just cleaning and protecting enough? Remember i dont have a show car i do like shine but it is not my main goal.

    Skip polishing?

But it makes the car look so pretty!

Remember that whenever you wax, you are sealing in all the flaws and contaniments. I`m not too familiar with how it helps with oils, but I know that if you have any swirls, haze, or defects that polish would remove, you`ll be stuck with them. So yes, polishing does protect the car...

Depends on the condition of the paint and the 3 steps.

I bought a new truck all I did was clay and apply a sealant. No problems and still shining now for 2 months.

Now doing the GFs older vehicle we are still working on getting the swirlies out. Which will take time and require polishing. We are trying SMR first. If that does not work off to the store for more agressive stuff.

Cleaning and protecting is enough provided the paint is not in poor shape. A good clean and wax can give good results, not everyone is as obsessed with every "last drop" of shine
