To sum up quickly-one of my customer`s wifes washed her S600 and let nasty well water dry on the paint (in the sun-their water dionizer malfunctioned). Park Place Mercedes Benz said they could not fix it, probably wanted to sell a paint job.

Anyway, this is what I started with...and the pic just doesn`t show how bad the whole car was, including all the glass, but it was getting late and the back end had the best light.

This is after using Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner/Polish and Clearkote`s Vanilla Moose (no wax yet, by the time I waxed the car, it was already dark).

This is one of the towels I used and you can see all the nasty residue left on it.

    Wow...

I fought with DACP and my PC for 4 hours yesterday on 1/50th of that much contamination, and it left me frustrated and lethargic, you do it by hand in an hour and it looks like a masterpeice LOL

    Awesome!

Pretty sad when you consider an S600 runs about $120,000 and change.

Mercedes from the 80`s had far less orange peel than they do now. I don`t know what they`ve changed, but on a car that expensive, it is unforgivable, IMHO.

    Scott,

Yeah I can see where you would not need a work out after that job!

    Looks fantastic, great work.

Thanks Anthony, coming from another professional, that means a lot...not that I don`t appreciate it from others!

All that gunk on the towels and the car is clearcoated! Definitely not old dead paint coming off!

BTW, here is a 2002 Mountaineer I detailed the next day:

As always Scott - Very sweet! When you use DCAP by hand what are there steps you do? I do by hand with dcap, but it takes me longer than you and I am looking to tweek my process. I have a Volvo S60 with overspray that I have to do next week.

    Steps:

    1. Wash car

    2. Claybar to remove overspray

    3. Use DACP

    4. Use meguiars polish

    5. Then wax with either s100 or moosewax

    What do you think?

Without seeing the car, I don`t know for sure if you would be better off using Swirl Free Polish or DACP first. Which Meguiars polish are you talking about in the 4th step?

I`d top with S100 if the paint is metallic and Carnauba Moose if it isn`t.

I agree with the choices on swirl free polish or dacp - Customer states that the overspray came from a house next door that was painted. The paint is red and there are a lot of white paint spots on the car. I was planning on using Megs #7 but would like to use P21S.

P21S/S100 will work just fine on top of #7....just FYI though, once you run out of #7, try #81 Hand Polish...much easier to work with and I know Wash Solutions carries it.
