The St. Louis European Auto Show was held this weekend. I am on the board and help run the show so I am still recovering from sunburn and blisters on my feet from running around. I barely had time to rattle off pictures of some of the 200+ cars at the event.

Of particular note was "Marmie". She is an older gal who is driving across the USA "by herself" in a 1911 Rolls Royce. The car is beautiful but no trailer queen. It has some nicks and scratches because it`s really driven like it should be! How wonderful. She is heading to California from Pennsylvania for the 100th anniversary of Rolls Royce.

Partway through the show she donned an apron and proceeded to tune the car and oil the suspension, etc. Incredible! She rightfully won Best of Show and when she drove her Rolls up to the front to get her trophy she sat there with it quietly idling for nearly 20 minutes! Try that in any other "old" car and you would be dropping coolant all over the tarmac! I was standing next to the huge bonnet and I could barely hear a quiet "tic, tic, tic" from the lifters in the monster engine. You barely knew it was running. Just a great story and a cool lady!
