hey i am detailing my dads 85 blue supra and it is very bad (bad swirls, scratches and etching). my question is, is there anyway to find out if its clear coat or not? id rub some rubbing compound on it and see if paint came off but i dont have any. also do i need to go about the paint differently in buffing or products if its single stage? i was planning on buffing 83 on and then 9 on it and then polishing it with some megs waxes. anything i should look out for since i have never done a single stage car.

You can check the little sticker on the inside of the door jamb (dunno which side) if it`s still there to see the paint specifications. You can also take any kind of polish and test it out.

I don`t know much about single stage paints, so I`ll let someone else answer that one.
