What would you guys suggest for keeping those rubber weather seals around the doors and windows clean and also to help preserve and keep them supple. I just recently had my car restored and it cost $150 per side for new window seals!!! Yikes!!

    Thanks.

I like 303 Aerospace Protectant, but I can`t say the name without imagining a lot of reverb in my voice....

    Welcome Mags GN!

I recommend a quick search for "Gummi". That should bring up just the threads you are looking for!

Yes! You can find Gummi-Pfledge in most BMW dealers... its recommended by BMW for BMW door seals. The car actually sounds quieter and body-flex noises are somewhat reduced... I love it!

I prefer using 303 on the window seals, door seals, roof rack, CV joint boots, hatch back hinge covers and other such items. I like the way it makes water bead up. :p I use the cheap stuff (ArmorAll) in the wheel wells.

Do any of the online retailers carry Gummi-Pfledge? I thought CMA used to carry it, but they don`t any more.

I`ve only known BMW Gummi Phlege to be available through BMW dealerships. Hopefully there is one near you, because it really is an excellent product. :up

If I`m looking to soften the weatherstripping, I`ll use the Gummi Phlege. If I`m looking to dress it for a car show, them I apply 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I don`t allow the weatherstripping to get dirty on either the daily driver or the Vette (pet peeve of mine), but if it were dirty I would clean with a mild soap and water, rinse with a separate mid-grade microfiber towel/bucket. Dry the weatherstripping by hand and then also allow it to completely air dry on it`s own - then apply the Gummi Phlege, gently working it into the seals. Allow the Gummi Phlege to sit for at least 10 minutes and then gently buff off the excess. The Gummi Phlege both softens and imparts a very nice richness to the weatherstripping.

Maintain with the 303 and it will look great. :xyxthumbs

303 is not really a good protectant for seals. It`s more of a vinyl and plastic dressing and does nothing for the seals themselves. Gummi Pflege is a much better choice and will help the seals.

Brad, thanks for posting the pic of the tube with part# visible. I called the local dealer and the parts guy had no clue what I was talking about until I found the PN. Thank goodness for Autopia

Very reasonably priced as compared to the Zymol Seal. Gummi is about $8.

Wurth and Sonax make priducts for rubber and door seals.

So is the 303 aerospace worth the money? I was in a boat shop yesterday and the clerk raved about it, but all they had was one gallon jugs for $79.99 . That is quite the investment. Do they sell it in small quantities? :nixweiss
