    Rubber window seals

What do you guys use to get the exterior rubber window seals ( the ones that are on the top edge of the doors that keep seal the widow from the inside of the door ) clean? Had an older vehicle and the rubber seemed to have mold on it. I tried some APC and some other cleaners but it just would not come clean. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Poorboy`s Natural Look works well and smells good too. Available from the DC store as well as PB`s and AG.

Other products I`ve had good luck with:
1Z Tiefenpfleger - I don`t know how much luck you will have finding this, they re-worked their distribution channels sometime back. I`m not aware of any the sponsoring vendors who carry it.

Meguiars #40 Locally availabe, but you may have to look for it.

I`ve used PB`s NL with a good amount of success on that type of trim.

I think this is what karwaxer was wanting a cure for. On some vehicles there is a decay to the rubber trim that looks like mold build-up. I have asked questions myself about this trim problem and never really got a good answer to what causes it or how to avoid it. I have seen it mainly on Toyotas and Nissans.

If someone has a fix or explanation as to what causes it. I would love to hear it as well.

I can`t visualize what the problem is but if APC and a stiff brush isn`t working then maybe a Mr. Clean Magic eraser would work? May be worth a shot...

The Magik Eraser will work...but now they have a few different grades (grits)...

one is the plain one..original..and now they have the X-tra power ones...

the original one should do the trick...I use it on my rubber and glass and does a very good job ...

    Re: Rubber window seals

I`ve been known to bang this drum (sometimes loudly ), but PB`s NL has biocides which were put there (if I have the product history correct -- if not Steve can come along and set me straight) for use in collectable cars which are stored to help prevent mold and mildew. Thus my suggestion of NL to help mitigate the mold problem.

A lot of cars at work get this when they have been sitting for a lllong time "lot rot". I use a APC with a white scotch bright pad, comes right off then top with a dressing.
