Some M.F. keyed my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately it dosen`t appear to be that deep, but holy crap it`s on a black car!!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to repair the damage, short of having the whole passenger door repainted? I`ll try and post a pic of it if that helps. I`m a newbie to detailing, so this may need to be taken to a professional. But I`m hoping it`s something that I might be able to take care of myself because I don`t trust most of the shops around here not to do something stupid. Maybe it could be buffed out? But would that damage the clearcoat?

Meanwhile, I`m still :furious: fuming:furious:

How do your scratches compare to the pics below? I polished those out using PC/Yellow CCS Pad / mix of Menzerna SIP & Danase Swirl Abolisher 3

It`s probably going to take some wet sanding to get it looking better. But I doubt you`ll make it disappear 100%. Sorry dude... I hate hearing stuff like this!

how can you say what it will need or that the can`t be fixed 100% ?

with out a picture

did you see the picture above or my pictures of my dad`s car when it was keyed?

they were fixed 100% with just a PC!

Nice correction there Motorcity. My buddy has similar scratches on his ride almost every panel.

Hi, thanks for the info. Motorcity, the scratches are just about the depth of the ones in the pic you posted as far as I can tell. The after pics look great so that is encouraging. I can`t see any scratches at all in the after pic, did they come out completely? BigJimz28, what products did you use to polish out that scratch?

I`ll post some pics as soon as I`ve calmed down enough. I just discovered it about an hour ago, went totally ballistic wanting to kick the person`s butt who did it but I don`t know who it is. :furious: :furious:

I`m just not sure if this is something I should try to do myself as I have minimal detailing experience and I don`t want to make the whole thing worse. If it does require wet sanding, I don`t think I want to mess with that on my own.

The clearcoat has already been damaged. Buffing it out with help correct it. Depending on who you let do it.

You will probably need at least a PC and good cutting product and pad to get good correction. I suggest you find a local autopian to help you. That`s what I do when I have major problems...

SSR2.5 on a swirlbuster pad

then SSR1 on a green Propel pad

by PC

but there are a ton of good pad/polish combo that will give you great results

The pictures above look like the side of my wife`s Mountaineer below the gas filler where the hanging cap scratches it. One pass with SIP took care of half of it when I did a quick test. Another pass should hopefully make it gone when I finish the truck.

I have read so many times that a PC cannot knock out serious scratches..had I believed all that I had read I would have never attempted the correction I posted earlier..glad I didn`t listen

No problemo... give it a try with the PC and a good polish (I`d suggest menzerna)... you might be surprised at the results and if not I doubt you`ll make it much worse if you take care
