I`ve been lurking on this forum for awhile now, but now I need to ask a question of my own.

I have a rather large chip on the front of my hood, that when I first noticed it (~6 months ago) that everything had come off, down to the bare metal. When I say large, this baby is almost 2 inches in diameter. I did a rather quick fix so the hood wouldn`t start to rust. It looks okay from afar, but up close it looks rather tacky.

My question is, what would be the RIGHT way to attack this, making it look as normal as possible? Also note that the paint around the "quick fixed" area highlighted in red sort of "lifted" off of the metal, but is still intact to the original paint. Sort of like a small air pocket if you will.

    Chip in question:

I want to avoid the body shop as much as possible because the only thing they are willing to do is repaint the entire hood. That`s big $$$.

Yeah I agree. I think don`t think it would be even possible to fill it in with touch up paint. Plus I think it`d be really noticeable.

That`s what I did the first time, apply primer, then touch up paint. But now the touch up is starting to crack... I guess it`s time for a repaint, or used hood since it`s going to be cheaper:bawling:
