    Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has done this and what their results were. I was wondering if you could use the XMT pad conditioner with SSR 2.5?

I know your not supposed to prime your pad with anything other than the 2.5, but the bottle of xmt says it will not affect the performance of your polish.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried the XMT with Menzerna....the pad gummed right up ....used another pad with out XMT and it went fine...I know it did not play well with menzerna for me...so hopefully you will have better results on the poorboys products....I ended up using a dab of Opt Polish for the pad lube..worked real nice....gave menzerna a long work time and no dusting....and the Menzerna performed just as it should...

Hey Al how exactly would you describe "gumming up"? Is it when the pad has WAAAY to much product in the foam?? I have this experience everytime with 2.5. Usually change pads quite frequently. which is why i was asking about the pad conditioner for when i change out pads...

Just a dab of OP and your Menz got longer working time and less dust? I love the SSR 2.5 for defects but hate the dust... maybe i will try this out.

I will try them both out probably, why do you think your pad got gummed up with the conditioner?

Josh-thanks, figured we had better be prepared!

I have used pad conditioner with SSR2.5 with no issues.

Also when the pad did start to load up a bit with product I cleaned with pad cleaner spray, re-primed it with pad conditioner and again no issues.

This was with Edge 6" durafoam pads on a Festool random orbital.

    HTH.

    Cheers

Personal preference for me to always prime a pad when polishing. I have been using XMT`s for about a year. It`s very rare that any bike we do doesnt get PO85RD and it always works perfectly for us.

kleraudio....I was using PO85RE5..I hit the pad with a spray of XMT ...spread the polish on 900 rpm with the rotary..then kicked it up to aroung 1500 and the pad got grabby and the polish was like rolling in balls..now I just used a dad the size of a dime..looking at the pad it was gummed up in the center...

this is how much menzerna I was using..this pic has the OP in in also...plus I was using the PC in this pic to get into small area..but goes to show how much I used

I have used the XMT on other polishes and worked OK..but not this one...tried twice and same results
