    Bird Etching

Can a pc be used to remove bird etching?
if so how would you do this. i detailed a car that had this problem 1) i didn`t know what do. 2) i`m not sure what product to use for this situation.
the car had a beautiful finish when it was done but it sux not to be able to remove`em. i dunno some clients base the work in how the car shines they don`t even notice the paint defects.

    Re: Bird Etching

I had a half dozen bird bomb stains on my black CTS that resisted claying and Meg`s DC1. Had some Meg`s Scratch-X - took it off in two applications and didn`t need to take out the PC and an aggressive product. For a cheap over the counter product, I`m amazed what this stuff can do. Best part is that it doesn`t induce a compound haze meaning I can hit with my LSP and be on my way. Quickly becoming my go-to product for small defects (paint transfer, minor scratching, water spots, bird bombs...)

I was going to say no, but blkyukon proved me wrong with a great mini-writeup. Sometimes though some B-Bomb etchings are just to severe to touch and will require wetsanding, but as stated above in the link it can be done.

I guess i learn something new everyday.

some do and some don`t...it depends on many factors such as how long they have been there and how acidic the dropping was hmy:

The birds in my region only eat citrus fruit. You have about 28 seconds before it starts etching.
I have a friend that was in body work, and wanted to see if it could be fixed when it was deep. He wetsanded-buffed in a series of progressions. He broke to the base and the etching was still evident.
Not every bomb can be fixed.

This is true...The one that I removed in the picture was on there about a day. It was on my wife`s car and she got hit at work in the city (San Francisco) so who knows what it ate. Her car also had a few coats of sealant on it too, I think it was UPP or EX-P I can`t remember, so that might have helped too.

Before my mother got her car, she asked if they would take care of the Poo etching on the decklid and behind the drivers side door. They did, and you wouldnt notice it now except for an outline.
