I drive a black car daily, have no garage and live in humid South Florida. Every morning I wake up to a car covered in dew. This dries fast leaving ugly gray/white mineral deposits.

What would you do?

Dry every morning?

Dry then QD spray?

Quality car cover every night?

Thanks in advance,

A good car cover would probably be your best bet. Gotta watch out for the sprinklers too...

Don`t lay/cover/wipe a single thing on your paint unless it`s 100% clean. If you drive it 1/10 of a mile and it still looks clean, don`t cover it. I think you`re going to have to live with it, unless you feel the need to wash it every night before putting a cover over it?

invest in a garage?

If I were really "anal", I`d wash it every morning with QEW or ONR. It would be almost as fast as drying it and then using a QD.

I would use a duster every night and then cover it. Better than having to wash it everyday.

if you don`t have access to a garage/shelter, than i would just leave it and wash it very week...

You could invest in a cr spotless and hose it down and drive off. This might attract some dust but either way, dust is something unavoidable

I pretty much just live with it (similar climate, similar parking situation). It seems to occur a little bit less with a sealant vs a carnauba, but nothing seems to prevent it overall.

If you don`t drive too much and you stay on relatively clean roadways, you could probably QD it off every morning in 2-3 minutes with a cleaning QD like Poorboy`s Spray and Wipe. Keep an eye out, if you see swirls appearing you may need to switch to a more involved ONR wash.

Thanks, everyone, for your input!

Investing in a garage is not feasible as it would mean a major addition to the house. A shelter would not stop the dew from forming on the car.

I can`t just live with it guys because it`s really bad. I`m going to take a picture of it this morning and post it for you to see. Remember, this is a car I clayed, polished and sealed this Sunday. By Tuesday it looks like *$%).

At first I thought that a good car cover would keep the dew off. Therefore, a California Dusting stick at night followed by the cover would do it. However, I`ve been reading that a car cover isn`t very effective against dew.

So, what I`m leaning towards is dusting at night and patting dry in the morning followed by a QD spray. I think this would be quicker than a wash in the mornings. I only really have about 5-10 mins most in the mornings.

I realize this may be slowly marring the paint but I`d rather do a light swirl removal procedure monthly than ride around daily with a black car full of gray spots.

What`s a CR spotless?

Thanks again!

Looked up the CR spotless. Thanks.

I may try a simple home version for non-professionals like me. I would get the following two items and just clear the dew with DI water then pat dry.

1. Large plastic watering can with a single spout; and

2. Aquarium DI kit from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals.

Total cost of the above should be around $40.

I don`t know why people here don`t say this much, but 2 plush MF towels and ONR at QD dilution going by scottwax`s method.

EDIT** Or you could by a gallon of CG ONE.

OK Thanks. Will look at the CG products to see.

Yep, you have a problem. Those spots will probably lead to etching if left on, especially on a black vehicle. Now you know why "black" is a life-time sentence.

I still think that a quick once over with QEW of ONR is the way to go. You could apply it quite quickly with a middle sized microfiber towel and then remove it with a couple more. It would be just as fast as what you are considering. Not only that both QEW and ONR leave a little bit of protection.

As an aside. I have to drive on eight miles of dusty gravel roads every day. Up until two years ago I always had black vehicles -- 30 years of them. I gave up and switched to white after driving on these dusty roads for over ten years. I`m a slow learner. I hope that you are smarter than I am.

Good luck.
