First post and new wax on the way...

I like your nice collection of cars. when I was a partner in my brokerage firm, one partner was into cars ( had a 5 million dollar collection including Ferraris, Astons, Porsches), one partner was into horses and wine( had a farm with 15 thoroughbreds and part ownership of a winery in France) and I had my own turboprop. Then it all went downhill from there and now I am on my way back up ( no plane, no million dollar home). I was like you, get the best stuff, price not withstanding. It looks like you got the all the requisite materials to do the job well. Good luck with your detailing. Once you get tired of those toys, you need to move up to some sea-going yachts and maybe some airplanes. That's the natural progression.:xyxthumbs

On my black BMW which has swirl marks I will do the following:

-Wash and clay

-Polish with orange pad and DA using Menzerna 106ff

-Polish with white pad and DA using Menzerna final polish

-Clean with zymol HD using hand applicator

-top off with vintage wax applied with hands..

Welcome to Autopia!

Nice batch of vehicles.

I'd check on a few things...I'm not the guy to ask, but these make me

- Some recent-vintage black BMWs have exceptionally soft paint and require special treatment because of it.

- Make sure that the orange pad/106FF is a good combo, especially on that paint.

- I dunno if the FPII is a good step for after the 106FF; the 106FF might leave a ready-to-wax finish if used with the correct pad. Some of the newer Menzerna polishes (dunno if the 106FF is one of them) leave an even *nicer* finish than the FPII.

I'd look into the above before you start.

Oh, and be careful about your choice of clay/claying technique so that you avoid instilling any marring, especially on something you don't plan to polish.

Hope I don't offend anyone but my best friend who is single and has a private jet always tells me, "if it flies, floats or f$@ks, rent it!"

I didn't listen to him and got married but other than a waverunner I am not into owning a boat or a plane. :)

As far as the detailing stuff goes I'm excited to try it all but it's raining here today in NY. :(

Thanks for the kind words on the color. It's a one-off car the way it's optioned out. I love the two-tone interior and the carbon package. :)

$2200 for 22 oz huh? Do they give a seperate tube of KY or is it mixed in with the product? It is amazing how much that name is worth! Not meaning to step on anyones toes and I know you get what you pay for, but that is just rediculous. I can't see where that product will do anything better than some of the cheaper products. Anyway, just my $.02 I guess it is worth what someone will pay for it. Nice lambo though :)

LOL! You think that's expensive? The Zymol Royale is $7,000.

That's right! I asked the dealer about it and he told me to start with this and I can trade up if I wanted to.

Beautful car, but I beg to differ...I will take a boat over a car any day...But that is just a preference.

According to this theory, any of the high end waxes would work the same as TW or any other OTC brand. Or that driving a Pinto is the same as driving a Mercedes. Sometimes you get what you pay for. It is a different look and it looks gorgeous when done.

I just don't see how you will get any better results from this than any other high quality wax. Just something I would have to see to believe. Just like someone else posted, I'd like to see a comparison between that and another quality wax, maybe p21sz souveran, zaino. Of course the paint needs to be nearly perfect before applying any wax though.

I mean look at some of these cars, particularly the metallic grey Audi A3...how much better do you think it would have looked with this $2200 wax??

Again, according to your logic, we should not se any difference between Nu Finish, Turtle Wax, and Souvran.

Hey, NICE cars there!!

can someone chime in why you would use a paint cleaner after polishing? Shouldnt your paint be clean as a whistle after 2 steps of polishing?

Jim

Welcome to Autopia TWCNY. Like everyone said, nice collection of cars.

I have just recently started buying the line of Menzerna as well and cannot wait to try it. Did you by any chance pick up some PO85RD as well?

You will love the Vintage. I have been using it for 3 years now and love it. I sometimes use other Zymol waxes and eg's but Vintage is perfect for me. Haven't used Royale or Solaris yet, but who knows, maybe someday. Vintage is perfect for layering - I wait 1 week in between.

I just joined Autopia and I'm curious as to why so many are very critical to Zymol. Any ideas? Unfortunately, I even see an Autopian dishonestly selling it on ebay. Why do that? Sorry but that's my little gripe.

Anyway, I love surfing Autopia even at work as you guys got some great ideas and pics on here. Glad to be here!

Dishonestly? I dont know who is doing it, but why is it dishonest?

I'm guessing when you buy Vintage it's a license (thus the free lifetime refills) and this guy on ebay is just selling the refills over and over when he doesn't have the authority to do so, and when the buyers eventually try to get their free refills, they'll be SOL.

No, they are not selling Vintage - heaven forbid they ruin it for the rest of us. They're just selling item as purchased from Zymol when in fact they said offline it's not actually from Zymol. Maybe it really is genuine product but a shady representation. My point is (and maybe this is not for autopia but for an ebay forum) why misrepresent your item? I use Vintage, but I actually buy their other waxes, eg's, hd cleanse, etc. and give it away for free to my close associates so that I can promote zymol and give it a good name. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything, but it just annoyed me today. Sorry, maybe I'm being a cry baby so I'll stop here.
