ZPC removal problems, Z5 success...

I decided to prep my new WRX Wagon (WR Blue!) with ZPC. Interestingly enough, the polishing brought out defects in the paint I couldn't see before. I was almost 100% certain that there was nothing on the paint in terms of wax/lsp, but out popped water spots and a little etching. Ugh. IPA wipe didn't reveal this and the paint feels bare.

So I worked it in and went to wipe it off and well, it didn't want to come off. Elbow grease, Z6, nothing. Additional ZPC applied lightly (all by PC @ ~5 w/polishing pad) and wiped off wet did the trick, but I decided to not do the rest of the car due to the problems I was experiencing.

Did I work it too long? Did I work it too fast?

I thought it had to break down, so I worked it, but not even to the point of dusting (though it did sort of clump up on the pad - and I wasn't using very much at all). I switched pads and went at the paint problems with #83 and a sonus orange. Barely made a dent. I decided I'd cover & hide, rather than tear down this brand new car. Subaru OP sucks, anyway, so it's not like I was working the glass-like finish of my Honda.

I cleaned the whole car with AIO by hand (yellow foam applicator), as clay wasn't doing anything on what seemed to be a rather even thin glue coating left from the protective shipping film (not to mention great big lines of said glue). I figured the AIO would clean up anything that was on the paint, as well as the glue and some slight water marks.

2x Z5 + ZFX & 1x Z2Pro later, the marks I uncovered were 75% hidden (!!!). I plan on throwing another few coats of Z5 and finishing with a few of Z2...

BTW, Z glass polish followed by Z2/5 on the glass = better than RainX. Very nice. I just did the rear glass, but I'm going to get the rest with the new Sonus Glass & Chrome Polish, which I have a free sample of.

Thanks for reading all this. I'll get some pix of the new beast soon.
