Zainoed the MINI

I spent the past couple of days Zainoing my 03 MCS. I am satisfied with the results. However, I would like to remove a few more swirls on the black roof than I was able to do with Z5. May be next time I will try Meg 2.0 swirl remover or 3M SMR with a PC. Suggestions are always welcome.

On the roof I applied 3 coats of Z5 followed by 3 coats of Z2 w/ Z6 in b/w each. On the body I applied 5 coats of Z2 w/ Z6 b/w each.

for future refernce, how do you post multiple pics in the same message
In order to post multiple pics, you'll need to host them somewhere, then use the IMG tag rather than using attachments (only one attachment per post, but multiple IMG tags are fine). The Autopia Gallery (http://www.autopia.org/gallery/index.php) is free; you can upload pics there, or you can use any of the online hosting services that allow external linking.

I am not sure that is a good choice - it's a very oily product and might interfear with Zaino bonding ??

SFP is probably a better choice or speed glaze even as it will leave behind a small amount of polymer for the zaino to bond to.

Actually, Sal Z. and I just had a discussion on this the other day. We both FAR prefer the higher quality of 3M products to many of the other compounds/abrasives on the market. 3M makes their own product. The quality control is far better. The consistency is WAY superior than most on the market. You don't realize how huge that is until you find yourself constantly shaking a bottle hoping to keep the abrasive mixed up or finding that two sides of your hood look different and you can't figure out why.

SMR is an excellent product. If you are concerned with any oils just give it a wash with Z7. That's a good move to make after any compounding with any product anyway.

I solve 90% of my paint defects with 3M Finesse It and SMR. It's hard to have two better products in your stable.

My Mini also proudly wears it's Zaino!

Great looking MINI, you will have to use a swirl remover though for your swirls you said you have on your roof. I think most Zaino users will agree that Z 5 doesn't do much for swirls, even though it says it does:nixweiss

Wow-I Couldnt Agree More, I Love 3M. For whatever reason 3M has fallen to the wayside on Autopia, and its a shame cause they make some killer polishes. When people ask me about polishes in chat and stuff, and I say I use 3M, people act like im an alien. :)

IHG was my savior when I got my car repainted ;) -

But from my observation (I use SMR for Dark cars) the SMR has some fillers and is oily - I was only concerned that it might not be a good match for Zaino - but hey you never know till you try:)
