Before Pics are here: http://www.usazj.rockcrawler.com/Paint/paint-closup.JPG
Long Story (w/all the steps):
day 0
went wheelin'
day1
Pressure washed all the mud off (about 2hrs, at least)
Dawn Wash
Did the wheels w/ chrome cleaner
Did the door Jambs
Did the engine bay
Dawn Wash
day2
Scratch X in spots
Polished all headlight/ tail lenses w/ mother's mag+al cleaner
claybar entire jeep (mother's)
(fixed broken tie-rod end bushing in the steering also)
day3
claybar hood and roof (again)
clayed windshiled with old clay
Dawn Wash (again)
did the interior, shampoo, clean, etc to take a break from the paint lol
(waited 2 weeks)
day 4
Dawn Wash
took ZJ to a fellow autopiamember Intel486 w/hi-speed polishers
polished all the scratches out the best he could
Dawn Wash
day 5
Zaino time (Z5-swirl hiding wax, z6-quick detail spray, Z2-top coat wax, ZFX- chemical addative that speeds cure time for wax, www.zainobros.com)
(each step was repeated on the wheels, wood trim on interior, plastic headlight lenses, door jambs extra set of 31" wheels/tires, and my new bike (sweet))
steps: Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6 (using ZFX enabled polish)
day 6
Z5, Z6, Z2, Z6 (using ZFX)
put an extra coat of Z2, Z6 on the hood
notes:
-the tires were left undressed, as they should be on any Jeep
-the glare from the hood while driving is a little annoying (really)
-I am happy with how it turned out, should not have to re-wax until Christmas!!)
-The plastic trim was with a low-gloss plastic detailer, but it is still to shiney for my taste
-All washes were with the two bucket method and using a 100%cotton wash mit
-All towels were 100% white cotton, buffing was with a microfiber towel
-Wax was applied with 100% cotton wax applicators
