Zaino ZPC Didn't Work

I'm trying to remove spiderwebbing on a 2008 BMW M5 (monaco blue...a dark, metallic blue/black) with a PC 7424XP. I used Zaino ZPC plus a LC White pad...and it didn't do anything. I mean literally nothing, even after 2-3 attempts at 6 full passes.

Based on my research, I'm confident I'm using proper pressure and arm speed...do I need to switch to a better product and/or a more aggresive pad (LC orange)?

What combination of product and pad works well on my particular BMW clearcoat? I am starting to read things that indicate this clearcoat is pretty tough, and my experience the other day seems to verify this.

Sounds like you need a more aggressive pad. Z-PC is a mild abrasive product, so if you've got anything more than some spiderwebbing you might need to look elsewhere for something stronger to use first, then come back to Z-PC before going on to your LSP.

How about Menzerna products? I was thinking PO83 (the Super Intensive Polish) or the 203 (Power Finish) on an orange pad, and then finishing with either Menzerna PO85 (Polish) or Zaino ZPC with a white pad.

I've used ZPC to remove some pretty bad marring, so I'm having trouble believing it didn't even put a dent in the swirls.

Did you tape off a small area and try on that? Did you shake the bottle well, use enough? What are you using to wipe the residue?

i have both the megs uc and the zpc and the uc is has much more cutting power.

just go to any parts store or even walmart and pick up a bottle i think its like 9 bucks.

i have also used the sip and i like the uc more and you can use the zpc as a finishing polish.

the uc does leave a good finish if you know what your doing and can get it to finish good i used it on my black benz with an orange pad and it comes out almost perfect but i will still use the zpc or the megs swirlx.

ZPC is not really a great product for swirl removal, more like a paint cleaner. It may remove some swirls on soft clears though.

But you need to step it up to a cutting pad, the white pad will not cut much with the PC, you need orange or yellow. After that if you're still not satisfied, step up your polish/compound product as everyone has already mentioned.

Newer BMW's can have very hard clears so this does not surprise me.

Good luck.

I'm not trying to insult the OP at all, but regardless of what ZPC's abilities are, it is an abrasive (though the version I have actually has some decent cut to it, but who knows Zaino changes stuff around). Hell, if you spit on a white spad and sit long enough with it on a 1x1 square it will take off the swrils, paint, primer and get right down to metal. I can accept the fact its not working fast enough.

But this sounds like the classic "I'm going to do the whole car at once approach" that always leads to disappointment. I can't stress how important a test area is when you are trying something new.

Exactly. I noticed the abrasives will settle to the bottom of the bottle in the ZPC. You will see a white layer which is the abrasives, you need to shake until this is gone/mixed well.

I would also maybe try a polish designed for ceramic paint like Menzerna if the CC is really hard like you say.
