Zaino Z-2 without ZFX or Polish Lok

Has anyone tried Zaino Z-2 without using the flash cure? It seems like it should work just fine with one coat but I'm not sure if Zaino is much different from other polymer based products.

Technically, yes, it will work as I have used Zaino every way imaginable, however the bond will not be as strong as with the initial coat that would include ZFX or Z1. The compromise is shorter durability, less shine and slickness. The polishes really should be used as they are designed to reap maximum benefit. Otherwise, it's like changing your oil, but not the filter...

Zaino is very different from other polymer products in that it is like a 2-part epoxy. With the two products, a strong bond can be formed initially. This is why Z is known for its protective qualities. So, yes, you can skip ZFX or Z1, but you are giving up the benefits of using the system in the first place, IMO.

After the initial coat of z2pro or z5 with ZFX, do all subsequent coats need ZFX as well? In my first attempt with Zaino all the coats were with zfx. I want to see if I can do just the first coat of Z5 with zfx, then plain coats of z5 and z2 after that. Can I apply the subsequent coats immediately after a wipe down with z6 or do I have to wait 24 hours or something in between coats?

No, you don't have to use zfx everytime you wanna apply z2 unless you're planning of doing multiple coats. I've just applied z5 on my cousins bmw two weeks ago without zfx or the z1. after wash, i qd'd it with z6 and applied the z5. Haven't got the chance to wash the car again though.

No, not after the initial coat. Future coats can be straight polish or with ZFX.

You can only apply multiple coats back to back if you have ZFX-enabled polish. Without ZFX, it is 1 coat at a time, with proper curing time in between.

Zaino sealants are designed to be used with Z1 or ZFX for the initial application. The main benefit of using ZFX is the ability to apply up to 3 individual coats in one day. There are other advantages in using ZFX (denser matrix and enhancement in initial appearance) but that's for another discussion.

The epoxy statement is right on target. Though adhersive product technology has advanced over the years, a single step epoxy bonding product has not been discovered. Basic science states that sometimes the reagents for a reaction must be separated until the final product of the reaction is needed.

Sometimes there are no shortcuts.

Zaino is one of those technologically advanced products that is quite unique in its formulation and for proper usage requires following the steps for maximal performance. To use Zaino in an abberrant manner is not only unfair to the purchasers but also Zaino as a great product, IMHO.
