Zaino over Poli-Seal?

Hey guys I just got my Poli-Seal shipment in and I'm dying to try it. I read some threads that you can top it with a carnuba or a sealant of your choice. I had planned to use it on my girlfriend's car and top it with Zaino (for durability since she never washes her car or will let me). After reading the bottle and seeing that it contains carnuba wax, I'm wondering if the Zaino will be able to bond properly. Any thoughts or experience with this? Thanks guys!

I would say with 99% sureness, that Zaino will not bond properly to the Poli Seal. Zaino is best used with a base of clean paint after a final polish. I would stick to menzerna FPII or IP, ZPC, Blackfire, Optimum, or Klasse AIO, for a great base.

Does the bigger bottle state it has Carnuaba? My 4oz sample says nothing of the sort. I know scott mentioned it in another thread...

My guess is that Poli-Seal was made to be like KAIO; so it will probably work with some LSP's better than others.

Zaino probably won't bond perfectly to it, you might see some durability, you might not. If you're looking for something long-lasting and quick to top poly-seal with, try Collinite 845. You can probably grab a tin at one of the local boat stores.

My 32oz bottle says it has Carnauba in it. Thanks for the tip Timmah... I'll probably top it with Natty Blue instead since I already have it. :2thumbs:

Poli-seal contains carnauba and an amino function polymer according to David at Optimum. Acrylic Jett seems to work just fine over it but Zaino is pickier about what you put on top of.

Ugh, what a hassle.

How does AJT compare to Zaino with regards to durability? I'm leery of AJT because its a spray-on product, and to me, that means "diluted" (even if it is just in my mind). Is AJT any less durable than regular AJ?

The carnuaba is probably so low in Poli-Seal that after application just Z6 wipedown and apply Zaino with ZFX. The worst that could happen is that the Zaino doesn't last as long but you still have the Poli-Seal protectant there that should last a few more weeks.

Better yet, even though it will take longer, use Z1. Z1 will remove the low content and freshly applied carnuaba in Poli-Seal.

I haven't let AJT go as long as AJ (not intentional, just worked out that way) so I can't say for certain it won't last as long. A few others are saying they get equal durability from AJT and AJ.

For me, AJ has definitely been as durable as Zaino (several months for both!). Plus you can use it straight from the bottle and it isn't finicky about what you apply it over. I've used AJ over Poli-Seal on several vehicles and have been very happy with the look and durability so far doesn't seem to be compromised vs using AJ over Prime.

My results on the wifes car show 4 months out of AJ and 6 months out of zaino.

How about the look of AJ/AJT vs. Zaino (concerned primarily with light colors/metallics here)

Thanks for the great info here guys, I appreciate the replies.
