Black Mica Mazda3....daily driven 75 miles/day. Using NXT 2.0, which is nice, but durability is lacking. Given a choice, Zaino or UPPG?

Thanks!

I hope you are not planning to get a consistent answer because these two products have local followings who swear by them.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either. If you have the money, buy both like I am planning to do and switch between them periodically so you can compare and contrast of the years. Again, both will give you great protection.

LMAO oooohhh this should be fun! I guess I'll dive into the fire first and say UPGP. Wait you did mean UPGP right? If so then that. It takes 5 minutes to put this stuff on.

IMO, Zaino looks better, lasts longer and costs less so there is no question.

Looks better, debatable

Last longer, maybe

Cost less- $1.00 per app with UPGP

UPGP takes 10 minutes to apply and walk away.

Either one would be fine but you also might want to consider werkstat products as well. Prime followed by Acrylic Jett Trigger is nearly as easy as using the Ultima twins.

well I have used Werkstat stuff, used UPGP since its launch and just yesterday did my first big detail with Zaino stuff.

IMHO they are all good but have some differences:

1. fastest to use - UPGP (or I guess Z-CS equivalent product) as I can add a layer to my car in 3 mins. Followed by Werkstat AJT as a spray on and wipe off sealant.

2. most bling look IMHO - UPGP again. Gave a very reflective look to my car (dark silver) that really made it stand out. Almost looked like an extra deep clearcoat had been added, and in some lights it was almost hard to see the colour due to the reflective finish.

3. AJT never looked particularly wet. It gave a great gloss and amazing flake pop but hasnt matched the wet look of UPGP and Z2 for me. Beads and sheets water very well.

4. Z2 seems to have a richer wet look - less blingy and reflective than UPGP after 2 layers, with almost a slight darkening of the paint to my eyes? Car has much more of a rich gunmetal look than the silvery look I got from UPGP. Easy to use but more time consuming to get the layers on in the first place.

5. UPGP cleans up VERY easily - I find a good foam and rinse cleans 90+%of spring/summer dirt off without the need for a touch wash. Havent had Zaino on long enough to compare that yet ;)

6. I just never got the same beading/sheeting from UPGP as some experience. AJT and Opti Seal seem to release water MUCH more easily and my cars 'self'dried' very quickly after rain with those products in a way I havent seen with UPGP.

So I dont think you can go wrong as has already been said. All seem to have their strong points so its a case of deciding what you want and trying them IMHO. Right now I am really liking the look of Z2 but on my DD it will probably come down to how well it cleans up vs UPGP and deals with water, as its a DD after all...

Have fun experimenting with them.

BTW - I tried Opti Seal over NXT 2.0 and it looked great and lasted well. Only took a few mins to add a layer after a wash as well ;)

I have and use both I preffer the look and ease of the UPGP but they both work and look great . Get some DWG and Z8 and these will add that finishing touch

What's up with the water spotting associated with Z2? Is it more of a problem than with other products? TIA

That's a tough choice to make. Personally I'd go ahead and buy the sampler pack of Ultima....... for $40 you get 4 ounces that will last a very long time and these sampler packs aren't going to be around forever:

Ultima Paint Care Sampler Kit

Later you can pick up some Zaino and see how you like it. For black I think I'd go with the Z5 (and ZFX). The only downside to Ultima is it seems best to get three applications on there, but you have to wait 12 hours before doing another layer. If you use ZFX with Zaino you can do three applications in one day.

Some have reported that but I haven't seen it personally. I used Z5 quite a bit on both daily drivers and my street rod w/o ever seeing a water spot problem. Maybe that's because we don't have extremely hard water here (not really sure) or we don't park near sprinklers. I recently started using Z2 on another DD and haven't seen a water spot problem after several rains on that one either.

I can Zaino an entire car in about 7 mins and remove in about 5 mins so not exactly caring on the time factor.

Less filling...tastes great! Less filling...tastes great! Less filling...tastes great! Less filling...tastes great! Less filling...tastes great!

I havent experienced spotting with Zaino, nor Ultima for that matter. Ive been using Zaino for years and ultima for almost 1 year.

I've heard a lot about Zaino water spotting and I'll find out soon for myself, as i live in a VERY hard water area and the car sits in the sun all the time (when there is any sun ;)) so if theres a problem with spotting I know I'll find it....

You guys have big cars but I can UPGP mine in <4 mins. Once added a quick layer in the time it took the family to get their coats and shoes on and get into the car for the school run
