zaino not drying!

I was waxing my car yesterday and since it was cool and alittle humid, i thought maybe the zaino needed some more time to cure. So after 12+ hrs the zaino is still streaking and not drying.

I used zfx with the z2 but i did'nt put enough zfx in the bottle maybe 5 drops in the 2 ounce bottle. Now my question is, if i buff off what i can and mix a new batch with the correct amount of zfx will i have any problem with the new mix bonding?...forgot to mention this will be the first coat of zaino.

That seems a little abnormal, as straight Z2 should dry up on it's own. 12 hours is very abnormal, but if you used the entire 2 oz bottle for one coat, it will take much longer to dry.

The issue doesn't seem to be the ZFX, because it should have dried regardless, so perhaps someone else can help.

EQ: Did you apply the whole 2oz's of Z2 on in one layer? Very thin layers are the best way to avoid smearing etc.

Try washing with a strong solution of Z7 wash, that should take care of the streaking. Try that and come back and let us know the result.

Sometimes the 1st coat of Zaino is a little streaky/smeary, especially if its damp and sticky out. Almost always a little Z6 or even water will take care of any smearing. Subsequent coats go on and off with less fuss.

Directly copied from zainostore.com:

Humidity is a killer on the drying time of Z-2 or Z-5. The moisture in the air hinders drying time up to four times longer than normal. Sorry, but I can't help this.

Did you use a full 2 oz. on your car?

I have a fairly large car and I use probably a bit more than a 1/2 oz. You may have put it on way too thick. All Zaino products need to be put on "whisper thin". With the zfx curing time is dramatically increased.

you guys are right, i used the whole bottle on the car. If i buff off what i have on right now and wait alittle bit and buff again, will that enable the zaino to cure properly? What are my options besides washing the car again?

the zaino is on the car......you just have too much on there to buff off. Wash the car with Z7 wash to level it out and you should be ok......its cured and ready for another coat!

Like all others said, you have too much on there. I notice when I get streaking or a run into a little trouble with removal a few spots, Z6 will help me out. 2 ounces for 1 coat is way too much though.

EQ: If the streaking is over a lot of the paint work I recommend you take my and DetailKing's advice and just go ahead and wash with Z7, this really will be the easiest way to solve the problem.

If the streaking is just in a few places, take a look at Deanski's advice in the link I posted for you, to make up a spray bottle of Z7 solution, it's a really neat solution for localized streaking.

Last piece of advice, use the search option and read up on Zaino application, tips and applying thin layers. If you absorb 25% of the knowledge about using Zaino that is available here at Autopia, you'll be in good shape!

I'm gonna try out the spot treatment with the z6 and see how that turns out. If all else fails then i'll just rewash with z7, gonna be a pain since its raining this whole week.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out when i get the chance to finish.
