when layering Z2pro is it essential that you use Z6 in between layers? or can you subsitute fk425 or megs ultimate quick detailer?

was also thinking of trying the blackfire wet diamond ivory carnuba as a topper. would i see much of a enhancement over the zaino? i am very happy once the zaino is complete with the gloss, but, willing to try something on top if it would benefit appearence at all. just looking for some opinions, by the way my car is white.

thanks

I'm guessing you don't have the ZFX addetive to do 3 layers in one day. I recently did my first Zaino detail and didn't have the ZFX and I just made sure the car was free of dirt and dust prior to additional layers. I used Poorboy's Spray and Wipe because I didn't want to worry about any bonding issues. I'm sure that the FK1 or Meg's QD would be fine but optimal results would be to stick with the Zaino. Topping Zaino seems to be worthless, it looks great by itself and topping either won't add anything or it may actually take away from the looks.

BTW Welcome to Detail City!

When I do multiple layers of Zaino (with ZFX) in one day I don't bother with a Z-6 wipe between layers. I wouldn't use a QD that left anything behind right before another layer of Zaino. If you want to add some pop and slickness then try some Z-8....... that stuff is pretty impressive and lasts longer than a normal QD.

The other guys have given you some good advice.

If you are putting on multiple coats in one day, there is no need to use Z6 between coats... but it won't hurt. I sometimes use Z8 between layers.

I wouldn't use any other QD on the paint while using Zaino... other than Spray & Wipe.

If you top with a carnauba, you will have to start the Z process all over again if you want to apply more coats, as Z won't bond to the carnauba. Instead, I would follow the suggestion to use the Z8 as your topper.

i was under the impression you can add a carnuba to the zaino (nube on top of sealant) because the nube does'nt bond to the sealant just lays on top and enhances the depth of the zaino. please correct me if i'm wrong, i've been doing it wrong for a long time then. i love zaino but found the shine ,to me, to be a bit sterile, that's why i top it with a nube to enhance it's depth.:bigups

Nothing wrong with topping zaino. Just be sure to use a good paint cleaner prior to your next application of Zaino. The bonding problem arise with the sealant not with the carnuaba.

DCT was stating that after you top Zaino with a carnauba, that you can not add any more Zaino because it won't bond to the carnauba that is over the Zaino. Some people like to keep applying a coat of Zaino every few weeks to keep the slickness and shine at optimal levels. However, if you top with a carnauba, you'll have to strip everything off of the paint before you can add more Zaino.

so from the opinions above adding a carnuba topper to zaino may not be the best idea. i do use zfx and use z8, was just wondering about something different. as far as qd's on zaino go if i use the fk425 or megs ultimate qd would that prohibit me from adding additional layers of z2? sorry for all the questions i just like to mix things up a bit, there are just so many great products out there.

One can use what ever trips their trigger after a Zaino application. IF it works for you go ahead and use it. It is my opinion that Zaino is a synergistic type product. Meaning, if one wants to get the most out of Zaino products, use them together. IF looks are more important than longevity then use whatever satisfies your detailers eye.

If you're going to use a non-Zaino QD then I'd do a Z-7 wash and/or a Z-6 wipe down before adding more Zaino.

As CW mentioned, the Z line is designed to all work together. Another QD would just prevent the optimum bonding of a new layer of Z....... a Z-7 wash and/or a Z-6 wipe should take care of that and leave the paint ready for that fresh layer of Zaino.
