Zaino Fusion put to the test (pics inside)

A friend of mine asked me to post this for him since he is unable to post on this forum. I have to admit that I have not tested this product to this extent but my limited experience with Zaino PC has been great and I really like it too. See his post below.

I wanted to put Zaino Fusion to the test so I ask my neighbor if I can use his old pickup for this test and he gladly agreed. The hood on this truck is in horrible condition with water spots all over it and major swirls and scratches from improper

washing techniques, sliding boxes across it and probably even just

wiping dirt off with a dry rag. I wet sanded the hood in 3 spots with

1500, 2000, and 3000 grit paper. The picture of the hood with wet

sanding does not represent how bad of shape this hood was really in

but you get the idea.

First I wanted to find out if it will remove sanding scratches so I set my set my buffer at 1000 and had at it with the Zaino Fusion polish. Zaino removed the 2000 and 3000 scratch marks with no trouble at all (see picture with 1/2 hood done).

Next I tried the 1500 scratches and it seemed to be removing them but was not

as quick as with the 2000 marks. So I wanted to see if you increased the aggressiveness of the pad would it act like a more aggressive polish. So I threw on a red cutting pad with the buffer still set at 1000 rpm's and woola, 1500 sanding scratches were gone in no time and it even came up nice enough that I could go straight to a LSP if I wanted. I decided to throw on the polishing pad anyway and went over it and tried some of the areas that were not sanded with the Zaino Fusion. With just a polishing pad and Zaino Fusion with the buffer speed @1000 it removed major water marks, scratches and swirls. I figured let me compare it to my old favorite so I did an area with Menzerna IP. To my amazement I found that the Zaino Fusion seemed more aggressive and removed more defects faster

than IP. Now I am really impressed. So I gave it a try by hand. I

put an X of product across one of Zaino's applicator pads and did a

spot on the fender that had alot of scratches and water marks and

AGAIN, to my amazement it came out perfect. Needlesstosay that

after I dropped my neighbors truck off he wanted a bottle of Zaino

Fusion (ZPC) for himself.

Yes the work was done with a Rotary and Meguiars 6.5" pads. Most of the work was done with the yellow polishing pad, the red cutting pad was only used to remove the 1500 sanding scratches. I watched him do it and it did not take very long at all.

Nice work, and nice review !

I might have to change my original impression of it being just a finishing polish....

any product will tend to act more aggressive with a rotary vs a PC(speed issue) and the rotary does a better job of breaking down the abrasives-good job :2thumbs:

Very nice review Mr.Detail! I too have been very impressed with ZPC... cuts well and breaks down nice and evenly....better than any other polish I've tried.

I read and re-read...does this mean that you must use a rotary with ZPC?..or can I apply ZPC by hand?

Thank you.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Note: For best results, use on a cool surface, out of direct sunlight. Product may be used in the sun or on a hot surface, but more dusting and minor streaking may occur.

1. Wash and dry your vehicle as normal.

2. For HAND use: apply a small amount of Zaino Z-PC Fusion to a cotton or foam applicator pad (draw an "X" from corner-to corner of your pad). Work a small area (no bigger than 2' x 2') with the Zaino Fusion, using firm motions. Work the product for as long as necessary - stop to occasionally check your progress. Circular motions may be used, but always finish with front-to-back or up-and-down motions. When satisfied with progress, continue to step 4.

3. For MACHINE use: Can be used by random orbital or (for experienced users) rotary. Select a moderate speed (RO - 4.5; Rotary - 1200rpm) and an appropriate cutting or polishing pad. Apply Zaino Z-PC Fusion to the buffer pad in a "star" pattern. Start machine slowly to reduce sling. Work a small (2' x 2') area with moderate pressure until satisfied with results.

4. Buff the area clean with a soft, lint-free, non-marring towel. If satisfied with the results, proceed to next section. If more buffing is required, repeat either step 2 or 3. Problem areas like door handles (where keys often scratch) may require a few applications for best results.

5. When done, apply either: Zaino ZFX enabled Z-2 PRO, Z-3, or Z-5 to the surface for a long lasting, great looking shine that will lock-in the results of your work with Zaino Z-PC Fusion.

Tip: If more "bite" is desired, you can mist a slight amount of clean water (from a spray bottle) while using Z-PC Fusion. The water will interfere with the buffers that encapsulate the abrasives and will produce a slightly stronger result. Water can also be used to minimize dusting when using a machine buffer (random orbital or rotary).

Woa, so you basically used 3 different grit of wet sand paper?

I have the same rotary and same meg cutting pad

can anyone explain how Z-PC can have buffers without having some kind of fillers?

It isn't oil based like most polishes; therefore it is able to have everything "go away" once the abrasives are broken down to their finest point (dust).

Thanks for the write up! I've had it sitting here for a few weeks now and have not yet gotten a chance to use it on my car. Looks like it'll take care of my washing swirls without a problem.
