Zaino and swirls

I did a huge multistep detailing about 4 months ago. Now I went over the car with certain steps more than once. I was dtermined to get all the swirls out and upon completion I looked at the car in Direct Clear sky sunlinght and I had come so close that I felt satified. Almost all the swirls were gone. To the untrained eye there were NO swirls.

-wash with dawn

-clay

-wash with Z7

(got some nasty water spots, long story about the hose it came out of)

-vinigar acid bath

-wash with Z7

-Dry

-Megs 83

-3M SMR

-Megs 82

-Z5(with ZFX)

-Z2(with ZFX)

-Z5(with ZFX)

Now as you can tell I only did 3 coats of Zaino but the paint was very slick and it said in the direction that was suffeciant. It felt good too. I wanted to do more the week after but never got around to it.

My concern is that now. 4 months after the job I see some minor swirls. (still better than 95% of the black cars out there..but i can see them) but the car is still beading water like crazy and it still feels very slick.

Whats showing the swirls. Is it the Zaino itself thats swirling or have I gone down to the paint again and caued swirl marks even though the paint still feels protected??

Swirls are pretty much part of life, and with a black car, they can show up like crazy. You should always wash as carefully and throughly as possible to minimize them using whatever swirl minimizing wash technique you prefer.

If the swirls are super light, you could try adding a few coats of Z5 to see if that helps minimize their appearance. Z5 isnt a one-stop swirl handler, but I have had good luck with it filling some extremely light marring.

thanks for the response. Yes the swirls are very minor. And to be totally honest I havent been that careful about my washing technique:rolleyes: and so I guess I should expect the swirls. I was just wondering how it was possible to get the swirls into the paint if theres a coating of Zaino ontop. but i guess the zaino like the clear coat can also get swirled and then reflect the light and give the swirled effect even thought the paint itself is still protected.

I've been using Zaino for a while now and I think the Zaino gets marred at times. Try the Z5 suggestion made already and if that does not work a finishing polish like SSR1 or FPII. You may be lucky and find the marring is just in the Zaino layers and no swirl remover is needed.

The SMR contains filler for the swirl marks and I thought that Zaino didnt like to adhear to SMR filled paint. Perhaps some of the filler has dissapeared?

I use Menzerna to gid rid of the swirls. Although after 4 mos. there will be some marks no matter how carefull I am.

As stated before, it seems black & swirls are a fact of life.

Seems like I have either just got rid of swirls or need to get rid of some. Never ending......

where I bought my Zaino they said SMR was one of the only things to use with zaino. I think it says right on it that it has no silicone fillers. and i do believe i washed the car with Z7 before applying the zaino so that way we could wash of any fillers that might be left from some of the megs products...

not 100% sure though
