I plan on polishing with Menzerna and then hand waxing with Zaino. Zaino suggests washing the car with Dawn dish detergent to get rid of any prior coats. Is this necessary/still suggested after polishing with Menzerna?
Thanks,
Rob
If the car is clean after polishing with minimal dust you can bypass re-washing it by wiping it down with IPA.
Mix 91% isopropyl alcohol with distilled water about 50/50 and give 2-3 wipedowns to make sure the finish is stripped clean for your wax/zaino.
Dave's spot on. Zaino should be applied to a perfectly 'clean' surface for maximum durability. Wiping the surface with diluted IPA or CarPro Eraser (my preference) will clean any residual polishing oils from the paint and ensure a you get the most from your Zaino.
agreed as well, but what i have found out that works better then just diluted ipa is a 12.5% dilution of ipa mixed with some meguiars rinse free express wash at about 100:1 dilution and makes the ipa not evaporate as quickly, gives more lubricity to prevent surface marring and helps get rid of the oils due to cleaning ability of the RFEW by itself. and it works out cheaper then eraser...the megs product is chosen as it leaves nothing behind.
