...my engine and engine compartment look pretty decent! :wiggle:

Took the pic last month. Cleaned with Greased Lightning's Orange Blast Degreaser (full strength). No dressing of any kind. Just wiped the engine bay and valve cover dry.

Very nice! ...But, I'm starting to doubt engine cleaning :confused:



A couple of weeks ago I removed my cars front struts and on the top of them, on a hidden section, there was some kind of corrosion that I had never saw before I started cleaning (twice by now) the engine compartment with specific products.



My guess is no matter how well you rinse it, some residues of the degreaser will remain somewhere, corroding.

fantastic!....my Mazda MPV has a whopping 294/k on the odometer and you just gave me some incentive to clean the motor (which hasn't been touched in a half-dozen years). It's amazing what today's cars will return for high mileage with just routine maintenance.

I have had the privilege of having Scott do work on all of my vehicles. I know that if I want it done right, I call Scott and the end result is perfection. His work on my 89 Mustang was sure deal closer for me when I put it on the market for sale. My wifes SUV looked better than new when he worked on it, the Acura was great and then he got my Lightning to perfection inside and out and then under the hood..



I have seen Scotts "work car" up close and for a car with the mileage and the amount of road time that his has seen its incredible.

Wow!



I detailed a 93 Accord last year with 250,000 miles. When I popped the hood I wanted to be sick. You could't even see the "H" emblem on the valve cover.

Sounds like the friend of one of my customer's kids. He and my customer's son pull up at his office while I was doing some detailing and his 90 Accord was steaming like mad. He pops the hood and lets it cool down. I went over when they were adding coolant to it and the mess under the hood as unbelievable. Grime and grease everywhere! He had a cone style filter that had fallen off the intake tube (the stock one) and was just laying there in the engine compartment, meaning the engine was ingesting unfiltered air. When his friend picked up the filter to reattach it, a chunk of sheet metal fell out of it. :scared Imagine if it hadn't fallen out and was still in there when he was driving...bye bye engine.



They also started to add oil...without checking the dipstick first and I told them they'd better check because too much oil can be almost as bad for the engine as too little. Not a drop on the dipstick, so the engine was at least two quarts down.



It was at that point that I knew the outer appearance of the engine was of little importance compared to what was probably going on inside of it. :shocked

Looks great. I have a 93 Civic hatch and i got the engine looking almost new. It took alot of work and bloody knuckles but was well worth it. I'd post a pic but don't want to steal your thread.
