yellow pad questions

Hi, I just ordered my yellow cutting foam pad from http://autogeek.net/vcpad.html and I just had a couple of questions about how to use this pad and what to follow it up with, first of all I want to know this because I ordered this pad for a black expedition that I'm detailing this weekend, it has over 100k miles and the paint is in very poor condition, its oxidized, dull, water spots, swirls, etc etc, and I wanted something that I could work with a little faster

I tried a section on the fender of his car to just show him the difference, and I'm using Optimum compound with a LC orange pad, then Optimum polish with a white pad, then applying the Poorboys EX with caranuba to top it off, the section looked great but my only concern was that it took me a pretty long time to work with the Orange pad and the compound to get the major defects out, I wanted to know if I use the Optimum Compound with the yellow pad, if I will have better results and have a quicker time removing all of the major defects with this pad instead of the orange...

If the yellow does work faster, it may cut more and my question was if I do end up using the yellow pad, will I need to come in after with an orange pad with compound, or an orange pad with the polish, or a white pad with the polish, I'm just not sure of the steps I should take after I try the yellow pad :help:

From what I read, Yellow is more abbrasive than Orange so ppl use Yellow if they have not been able to take scratches away with Orange. If you use the Yellow, I'd jump to white, however, dont use Yellow too often as Clear Coat wont last long that way.

Yellow is an instant cut type of pad. I dont care of you use vegetable oil, it will cut with it.....

alright, so do you think I would be set with following up with a polish on the white pad?

Your going to have to. Yellow pads are by no means a finesse or finishing pad, there a "cut to the chase and lets get rid of these imperfections" pad. Often times your going to need a couple polishes and lesser abrasive pads for that perfect finish......

hmm, well I only have optimum compound/polish, then my sealent and wax, so hopefully if I did end up using the yellow I would be able to fully restore the paint back to its original beauty, do you think I would be ok with the products I'm using?

What I realized today, a more agressive product on a less agressive pad is WAAY better than a less agressive product on a more agressive pad!

so your saying some optimum compound on a white pad would work just as well as the optimum polish on a yellow?
