Just the other day I was working on a Ford Taurus. The damn interior, hell the car for that matter looked like it was dipped and hardened in bird sh!t. I actually had to wear a mask and throw away my clothes due to the stench in the clothes, afterwards. ANYWAY, I get to the trunk and I start going around the base with the steamer. All of a sudden I see these little black things jumping around. WTF? Then, the little suckers jump on my arm and they start biting! I jump out and release a "WHAT THE F***!" Come to my senses and realise this lady has FLEA's, yes FLEA's in her car.

Does anyone else see a problem with this? She was driving around with flea's. S***, I don't even want to see what her house is like.

After talking to the customer I told her I would do my best AFTER I return from the hospital. I never been bit by flea's so I was not taking any chances. I finish up on the car and bring it back to factory looking and I get a $100 tip out of it.

It was kind of you to even take the job in the first place. Personally i wouldn't have taken it for any reason.

:lol :rofl :sign

I feel for you man! Dang! I don't know what I would do if that happened to me. Did you have any flea spray on hand? Look on the bright side ... erm ..... :LOLOL

LMAO..it's a good one.:bounce :xyxthumbs

I own pets and know first hand what a nuisance fleas are. In a home you must bomb the place to kill the eggs; otherwise just removing any fleas you find isn't enough, they'll return. Obviously this person has pets that ride along and as soon as the animals return so will the fleas. Toyo98, just wanted you to know the problem will return in case she calls you or asks for your services again, you'll know ahead of time what can be expected! Great post. :scared

I know exactly what you meant. I had two German shepherd dogs 2-3 years ago.:xyxthumbs

Fleas? That is really disgusting. I don't know how anyone can be that dirty.

I don't know if I would have stayed to do the work.

I was catching up on paperwork on Sunday night, feeling tired and irritable then I read this thread and couldn't stop laughing, Someone had it worse than me! LOL.

I really do feel for you Antonio, some people really can make you wonder what in Gods name are they thinking. The flea thing just 'grosses me out'. Better luck next time.

ive had to clean a trunk once with MAGGOTS in them, the owner went to the wet market and spilled some blood and fish-ed water into the trunk, left it there for like 3 weeks before bringing it in for "some smell in the trunk"...

Around 2 cups of maggots were scooped out.

It is very unusal for fleas to be that aggressive unless there has not been a pet in the car for a considerable period of time. I cannot remember ever being bitten by fleas and I work around them every day. At my veterinary clinic we carry an aerosol spray that kills adult fleas, but also contains an insect growth regulator to sterilize the eggs and larvae. Nothing affects the puppa which are encased in an egg-like shell. Most of the fleas in the car are in the egg, larvae, and puppa stage.

The pet owner should use Advantage or Frontline or Revolution on the pets monthly. This will prevent this sort of problem in the first place.

Interesting fact: 2 fleas can become 250,000 fleas in 2 months under ideal conditions.

Maggots are the WORST ! You deserve a medal for that, or at least hazardous duty pay.

In hope your recommended her to your vet clinic. We own 3 dogs and a bird (Macau) and I feel all pets deserve routine medical (vet) care. This is just part of the job so that we can enjoy their presence (LOVE). :wavey

My worker almost puked and guess what the owner said to him.

"Aren't you guys used to this? What kind of detailers are you guys?"

I'm like "Ma'am, honestly, maggots don't usually belong inside an automobile... Roaches, ants, etc are more common, but maggots, not really."

hehe
