Wrong place probably but too many threads to work out where to put it! - Clay Bar Question.

Hi,

I just wondered as it has slipped my mind...

After the car gets washed (pre-buffing), I was taught to then use a clay bar to make the surface smooth rather than buffing all the rough stuff into the paint work.

Do you just add normal clean water out of a running hose (or sponge) so the clay bar slides over a wet surface OR am I supposed to use the soapy water to do that, so its kinda like washing car, rinsing, then with a soapy sponge (washing car again) but with a clay bar running over the surface?

A constant stream of water over the area you clay will definitely work, but may create a little heavier surface marring. Otherwise, just throw a few drops of car wash soap mixed with water in a spray bottle and use that.

I like to use something as a clay lube such as Ultima waterless wash. I buy the concentrate, so even if I use a lot of clay lube, it's not very expensive

I was sorta surprised to find that my claying goes best with a specific clay luge- Sonus Glyde. I'd always figured that any kind of soapy water would work the same, but that's not how it worked out.

I *DO NOT* like using QDs as clay lube, too often they seem to compromise the clay's effectiveness. Ditto for my ONR and IUDJ.
