Wrench Socket set?

Was needing another set of wrenches + a set of sockets. Looking at the Craftsman / Gear Wrench wrenches, and was wondering if anyone had experience with the socket set that fits in the wrench itself vs. a complete seperate socket set. The 8 pc. set will cover everything I need, so I don't need a full set for this application (have a 288 pc. socket set already).

Thoughts? Comments? Experiences?

Craftsman Wrench sockets

(*And the wrenches are on the 'Black Friday' Sale sheet - 1/2 price!)

I love my set of Craftsman ratcheting wrenches that I got for my B-Day a few years ago. These things fill a niche between a wrench and a socket set. I have never used the wrench sockets like the link you posted. But I think ratcheting wrenches wold be more useful. I work on cars all the time and they are my goto tool after a good socket set. I have these in metric and standard.

The wrench sockets look like very useful tools, especially in tight quarters, but I would consider them a compliment to regular sockets, not a replacement. They won’t work anywhere you need deep sockets, extensions, u-joints, different handles (torque wrench, speeders, tees, cheater bars), adaptors, crowfoot, etc.

Yeah, after I thought about it, my problem would be that I will be using a torque wrench a lot-which obvioulsy won't work with those. Guess I'll just spring for a small socket set.

I have a set of Gear Wrenches and also the low-profile sockets that you gave a link to.. They are nice, but aren't a replacement to a full socket set. I bought them because they can fit in a tighter places. If you are using a torque wrench a lot and on very crucial fasteners... I would suggest Snap-On Techwrenches.. I have thier 3/8" and 1/2" they are hands down best torque wrenches I have ever used. They have a digital readout to show torque applied, vibrate when you meet your set torque and when you back off it shows the actual torque you applied on the fastener (say you were using a "click-type" torque wrench, when you feel the click, sometimes you apply more torque after after the click/slip) i think i paid about $300 each, but they are used pretty often.
