Autopians,

We have members from all over the world including the US, Canada, UK/Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim. The mods would like your feedback on having region specific forums where local/regional shows, meets, get togethers, etc. can be announced and discussed. The mod team was thinking of establishing the following forums:

US East Coast

US West Coast

Mid US

Canada

UK and Europe

Asia and Pacific Rim

In addition to stating you interest, any addition feedback on these proposed forums is welcomed. Thank you!

I'm all for it! Nothing wrong with trying something new. I'd love to see a regional detailing competition between Autopians!!

US NORTHEAST in the HOUSE!!!

As you can see I'm in for it. However, I feel it should be broken down a little more, like how the NBA has it...NE, SE, ME, NW, and so on and so forth.

I think most off the UK guys would be intrested in the regional forums if possible. It was discussed a long time ago and not thought to be not an option. Would be very usefull IMO.

I honestly don't see the benefit to it. I would have to search through even more forums to find information that I can now find in just a few specific to detail forums. Detailing is universal and pretty much the same in the Northwest as it is in the Southwest and over seas. Under a persons forum name it shows where that member is from so it would be easy to meet up with them if it's mutually agreed upon. It just seems if there are even more areas where members can post it will just be easier for a post to get lost and not be seen by all who may be able to answer it or benefit by it. The way it's set up now I think works very well.:)

This is how its broken down over on LegacyGT.com. I think it works out pretty well that way. Short of giving each state its own forum, I think it works. Throw in a couple international forums as is appropriate and I think it would work out.

Northern California

South East

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico

Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico

Mountain West

Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming

You just have to watch the regional forums a little more closely than other forums. It goes off topic really quick in places like that. On team-integra.net we don't have mods assigned to specific forums, so we just all just pop in when we can. More threads get locked down and removed in the local forums than anywhere else. That's TI though. It may not be like that everywhere else. The regional forums on LGT.com are pretty tame.

I'm definitely for the idea.

94BlkStang - the posts in the regional forum would just be posts that apply to that region's members. Stuff like local meets, or where can I get my windows tinted in (insert area of state)? If someone had a post about detailing, it would still go in the Detailing forum, or Autopia Univ, or Machine Polishing, etc.

I think it would be easier to organize meets and get to know people from around my area.

Well, that would make more sense then. Not sure if I would use it that much, but others may.:)

Absolutely, Bill!! I'd especially like to be able to discuss the huge number of Japanese detailing products (that I use or would like to try) with any other users in Asia and the Pacific, as most of them don't make it to North America.

Sounds great to me.:xyxthumbs

The Canadians on the board have always tried to share information about sourcing product. I'm sure it would be a good idea and I could also see the members from the UK wanting their own forum.

I was quite surprised to find difficulty in getting a few new products on a recent trip to Orlando. Seems all areas have some distribution issues.

I voted "Undecided", but a better choice would have been, "Don't Care". It's functionality I wouldn't use. To me it would be like if you decided to have "American Cars, Japanese Cars, German Cars, Korean Cars" forums, or "Red Cars, Black Cars, White Cars" forums.

I'd choose "Don't Care" with the realization that there are others who would care, and that I could pass on viewing those forums. If it makes those people happy, then I'm happy. What the heck, if you add the nationality forums and the color forums those would probably make someone happy too. But realize that out of all the members, only 110 have cared enough to even vote. Ergo most would fall into "don't care".

Miata Net has regional forums, and they are considered the "backwater" of the forum; to have a post moved there is to have it die.

I thought the idea behind Autopia was to be different, to be unlike other detailing forums? Autopia has always been the leader. Why all of a sudden to we want tobe the ones that follow "other" detailing forums? I voted, "NO".
