Now, I know it's not a PC, but, my friend recently purchased one, and I was contemplating whether or not to borrow it and use it on my car. Should I?

It's rotary, and one with 2 fixed speeds at that. If you haven't used a PC, I would recommend against using this. It's very easy to do irreparable damage with a rotary. Unless you have a junker to test it on, I would pass on it.

That would be my next tool if or when I master the PC 110%..... :p

Those things get ridiculously cheap up here - $80 Cdn on sale! Who knows how much havoc that low price has wreaked from Joe Average detailers buying that thing though!

It is only two speeds, detailers need a variable speed as you will be using different speeds for different products and cars.

I would not purchase that one.

Go with a Mikita or Dewalt. I like them the best. Before you get one though make sure you know how to use it. You will burn and damage paint if you dont know how to use it.

I bought one of those along time ago, i would not recommend it. the speed is contoled by the trigger, pull harder it goes faster, its also very heavy for its size. For the price though its a good deal, rather spend a few extra on a PC

Those are sold in Pep Boys I've seen them there before. There is actually another that Pep Boys carries along with that one that is much better and is also sold on CMA. See it here It is variable speed up to 1500 RPMs. Pep boys sells it for $59.95 but it doesn't come with the accessories that CMA offers. Haven't seen any reviews on it besides the one on CMA website.

*edit* you'd be better trying a PC like some mentioned above first if you haven't already
