Would a Dual Action Air Sander work?

The DA air sanders came before plug in DA's. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just remember to start off with softer polishing pads and chemicals with less cut until you know how the machine works.

One thing to consider is the size of the tank you have. You will need a MONSTER tank to run a DA constantly. Take a look at the tanks body shops have.....

Depends on the throw - short throw is great for a sander, but very slow for a polisher.

IIRC PCs have a 3/8" throw and Dynabrades have a .5" throw. A good finish sander is 3/16 or less.

Anything less than 3/8 is going to take forever to polish, a .5" will buff fast and clean but you need to keep an eye on the paint temps, it is possible to burn paint with a long throw DA.
