Worthy Charity- Military Working Dogs

Yeah, I caught the double entendre' in the first sentence....pretty cool.

You may remember how I feel about my dogs, so this is something I'll definitely look into.

Thanks for posting.

I'm bumping this as my wife and I have been in touch with a friend of ours who's working cadaver recovery over in the Sandbox (been there since last August).

That's one nasty job, and the climate doesn't make it any easier. Her GSD can't even wear the cooling vest as there's no extra room in the Blackhawks/Humvees (K9s have to ride on the handler's lap) and the heat in their AO is too intense for it to work long anyhow.

There is a definite shortage of proper gear.

Specifically needed (direct quote from our friend):

.. What we do need is IV set ups, 18 ga needles for quick subqu fluids, antibiotics, suture kits, paw protectors,(ruff wear is good) and doggles for the sandstorms...

I know this is a tough sell, but I did want to at least put it on the table. Looking at that wish-list, I can't help but think of the literal *suffering* involved with such needs.

Yeah, the Govt. oughta be supplying that stuff...maybe in a perfect world
