By color? by the texture? I've used mine twice, and while it doesn't have any true grit dirt in it, it does show signs of discoloration from picking up contaminates.

At most, I knead my clay over twice then toss it.

I tear the original size bar into 3-4 smaller size pieces, kneed them VERY thin and use each side never more than twice. Thin-kneading saves material and is good economy.

Don't get too risky...it could bite you! Encapsulated debris is dangerous.

As it loads up with contaminants, 2 things will happen:

1) it will darken in color

2) it will take longer to clean a panel, as the stickiness of the clay is diminshed.

Usually, I end up dropping one before it becomes fully contaminated.

I split it into smaller pieces and then use them a few times each than discard. If I am doing an overspray car I discard sooner. If i see spots in the clay I pinch it off and throw that small piece away.

Make sure you store the clay in a high quality container to prevent it from picking up gook.

I store mine in a sandwish ziplock with a little detail spray. You can and should fold them over frequently. when you can't expose a fairly "original color" section, it is time to throw it out.

I am on the market for a new personal/business vehicle and I was hoping to pick your brains a bit. I can fit all my needed supplies in pretty much any suv but I really don't want an suv. My wife is pregnant with our third child so I would like plenty of seating without a minivan.

So far I am looking at something like a 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE.

How about a Ford Flex? More of a wagon than an SUV. Land Rover's are notorious for hit or miss quality and repairs are expensive (my buddy had a discovery and it was in the shop more than he drove it).

How bout a used Mazda5, Toyota Matrix, Chevy HHR, Honda Element, Saturn Vue, or Subaru Forester..................
