Wool vs. Foam

Just curious to see what people are using to polish with and what works best. I personally prefer foam pads to compound and polish. What might the benefits be for either option? What are the downfalls to each option?

We use PC and foam pads for all detailing. IMO, With to days thin clear coat / paint, the direct drive and wool pads are too aggressive. Many skilled detailers still use them and then there is the unskilled.

wool- cuts quicker, cooler, leaves micro marring (buffer trails)

foam- gentle, light to moderate cutting, heats up quicker, leaves nicer finish

If your wet sanding a car, buffing it out with a wool pad gets the job done faster . Having the right tools for the job helps make the job easier. :2thumbs:
