wool pad and lint

I have some acid rain damage in my paint that I wanted to see if I could make it less apparent. The foam pads weren't do anything so I decided to step up to wool.



The problem is the wool pad was brand new and started throwing "bits" of wool all over the car. I had to stop because there was so much lint where I was buffing I was afraid it was really going to scratch things up.



Is this normal? I guess I need to wash it, but is it machine washable (without tearing up) or do I need to try to get as much lint out by hand as possible or what?
 
Well, first, have you tried claying? AutoInt's "A-B-C" system?



To address your wool pad issue, I assume you are using the Porter Cble RO machine.



Whose pads are you using? Some lint is to be expected. Lightly spray the pad with a QD b/4 applying product.



I find washing the wool pad is ok, but the dryer seems to cause real havoc for the adhesive...



I'm still not sure you are going in the proper direction...

Yes I tried claying. I have not tried autoint but the damage is in the clearcoat vs. just being on the surface. And I've tried DACP, Diamond Cut, Poorboy SSR3, etc. on the PC with a foam pad and didn't do much. I was going to try the wool pad before I step up and try the rotary. It may be color sanding is the only solution but want to try everything else first.

How long were the acid rain marks on the car?

Have you looked at the marks using magnification?

How much clear are you willing to lose to get rid of the spots?

Have you tried a chemical cleaner such as Mediallion, or OG Special touch?

AI ABC system may work, and will not remove clear.

The spots have been on there about a week. I can't really see anything under magnification due to the dark metallic pearl (all I see is the basecoat). I can see though with my naked eye at an angle the extent of the damage...tons of small water drops all over the hood and the roof...everything else seemed to escape harm (prob. because the water drained off).
