Wolfgang's Sealant - Smearing Issues

I still have a bottle of this that I've been using off and on for some time. Now, I used it yesterday and inspected the paint today, and it's awfully ... well, smeary. Very "oily" appearance on the paint.

I would imagine that this is because I do admittedly tend to put products on the paint fairly thickly, mostly because I'm bothered by trying to get something on there super-thin / invisible to the point where it almost seems like it's a dry foam pad against paint with nothing between.

So, I guess what I'm asking is - any application words of wisdom, assuming that's the problem?

Generally use a dime to nickel size amount for each panel (fender, door) or half of a hood or roof. If you worry about a dry pad try putting little dots all over the pad to prime it and do the hood first. You can wait 24 hours and QD the car to remove some of that smearing.

I've switched over to this as my new sealant of choice. But, as with any LSP, applying sparingly is a must. I have all my polishes and sealants in 2 oz bottles and if anything other than just the convenience of pocket size, they do sort of "train" me to keep the product usage small. Also, it's very important the paint is truly clean before application, I clean with the IP:water solution first even before going to AIO then WG. I'm convinced this really helps.

I'm in Florida, land of high humidity, especially this time of year and with WG, it is critical to let it completely dry. For a whole car I'd say wait a good solid hour and I've waited 45 minutes just for resealing spot areas. Try smearing it with your finger, if it does, it isn't ready to be buffed off yet. Yep, there's no issue with waiting 24 hours afterwords and then QDing.

This practice has been giving me very good results.
