Wolfgang Durability Update (Pt. 2), pics inside

Almost 3 months ago (9/27/04), I applied Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant to my mother's 2000 Camry. The car has been washed two times since then. Slickness is nearly gone, but the paint is still beading and cleans up fairly easily. Today it rained, so I snapped some pics.

I don't see why people complain so much about Wolfgang's durability. It sure does seem to last good for me. The car is kept outside 24/7 and gets barely any attention as far as cleaning.

Not cleaning is not really a factor in how long a product will last. Even the best car wash soaps will remove a small amount of wax, so the more you wash, the less life you will get out of a wax job.

Matt-I've been really happy with Wolfgang's durability too. I go back and forth between it and EX w/carnauba as my sealant on darker colors.

:nixweiss I have customer's vehicles I wash weekly and I get at least 3 months of beading and great appearance from WG. Probably would go more but I recommend waxing every 3 months to my regulars.

That's good to know since I've got some WG coming from the last Autogeek give-away.

Thanks for the update Matt :xyxthumbs

I have similar results with Wolfgang. There are a few products that fall into the long range durability category, but I just feel more comfortable rewaxing more often. I guess I'm that way with tires and oil though too.

This is good news as I got in on the Autogeek's free bottle of the stuff.

I've never used the stuff so I probably shouldn't comment, but my impression of WG is their products are a bit overpriced. It may be that a bottle goes a long way so perhaps they aren't overpriced. Are they really worth it? Obviously you feel it is if you're using it, but why would you use WG as a professional detailer?

Washing your car twice a day will no doubt leave you with less wax at the end of a month versus if you washed once a week. However, I do think that when one doesn't wash at all, the wax will break down faster than if washing was done periodically. This is just speculation, but it seems to me that over time, dust and dirt would accumulate and physically grind off whatever protection you're using, which might not happen as fast if you washed. There might be a magic number when it comes to how often you should wash the car in order to maintain maximum wax/sealant durability.

Washing a lot = carwash strips wax

never washing = dirt grinds off wax

I use it because I like it. The precleaner is a decent light cleaner but I can replace it with VM, AIO etc and get at least as good results for a bit less money. The sealant however, is an excellent product, IMO. Definitely the most 'carnauba looking' sealant I have used. It really excels on dark non metallic paint. A little really goes a long way. I've done about 20 cars with my first bottle and still have about a 1/3rd left.

Considering I have customer's vehicles I use Souveran on, cost really isn't an issue. I just adjust what I charge.

There have been many different results on the product. I have recently purchased it but haven't had a chance to try it yet on black, I hear it is good on black. I'm more interested on how it looks as opposed to durabilty for my personal uses. In this test it rated lower than Zaino but higher in initial gloss and shine but to be fair though they used it as the Wolf duo. However, after I bought Wolfgang, Zaino had to upgrade their product so we'll see. You guys think Wolfgang is deeper in shine and gloss than NXT, just curious? Also, how many of you layer it? The windows are beading too in that picture, did you put wolfgang on the windows too? I've never had anything bead for three months on windows, that would be cool. How many layers did you put on the car originally?

Wolfgang has a softer shine than NXT. Kind of hard to explain unless you see them side by side. NXT looks like wet hard candy, Wolfgang looks like wet creamy candy. I really don't know how else to describe it. :nixweiss

I agree with Scott. For me NXT has more of a crisp reflective look. My experiences with Wolfgang was that is was more of a muted deep carnuaba look to it. I tried Wolfgang on both red and silver cars.

Wolfgang is one of the easiest products to use.

Ty for pics gav, that stuff has a nice wet look. To me it looks wet on that green but not as wet on that purple. That information was helpful, because the green is a much darker color than that purple. I'm trying to talk one of my customers into letting me put Wolf on one of her cars and Zaino on the other so I can take pics and compare for myself. The reason I'm trying to get this done is both of her cars are black. I'll know in the next week or two, but she moved so that means it will be a long distance detail.

you should do half a car in zaino and WG and see

:D

did you notice the pic of my car at dusk just over the hood.:nixweiss

wet looking :xyxthumbs
