wiper blades

you can extend the life of your blades with a quick wipe from an "alcohol prep pad" 2.99-6.99 for a box of 100 at any local pharmacy, in diabetic supplies

they were still not too bad, but i noticed tears starting at the ends of the blades. dont want to be scratching the glass.....

Don't blame you there. I was surprised mine didn't start to tear sooner before I replaced them.

yes sir. PA heat/salt/winter/bugs/cold

wonder they work at all. 303 wiper towels help. you can do the same with some 303 on a cloth.

While my blades will last well over a year I do notice they become less efficient after about 6 months. I rarely have to use them since my windshield is always well protected. Even the expensive ones start leaving streaks after about 6 months so I just by the cheap ones.

I found the Anco ones work as well as the expensive ones. They are usually $6 or so at Walmart. I had been using Trico and Bosch but never really worked any better than Anco. I can usually get 6 months minimum on the cars that stay in the garage overnight. My favorites are the Motorcraft ones but they are expensive.

I did try some Valeo and they seemed to be ok.

I use the Trico Onyx or Trico Neoform. I'm very satisfied with either and change every 6 months.

Ron, I've been wiping my blades with those pads more often and notice a big difference in performance and flexibility.

something very mundane but important. i noticed at this mornings detail my blades were due for replacement. got 9 months on the factory ones. (not too bad). one trip up to advanced auto and $34 later all 3 replaced (including rear). with trico.

here is a map showing replacement times.

Isn't your Xterra pretty new? They are covered under factory warranty. You can go to the Nissan dealer and get them for free if its still under "bumper to bumper".

At least that has been my experience. When I took my BMW in for the "free scheduled maintenance" they put new wiper blades on multiple times for free - and I didn't even ask for them or need them.

On my 2001 Pathfinder I'm running Good Year wiper blades from Costco. They are 7 bucks each. I saw the price of wiper blades at Pep Boys and I'm sticking with these. They are the blade only design, not the metal scaffolding like the old ones had.

A year later they are still working as new. But, I always make sure to clean them every time I wash the car.

Wow, that is kind of odd you had to replace them early. I noticed when I replaced the ones on the V-Dub they were the original wipers (44,000 miles!). Dealer wanted almost $30 a pop for blades, that wasn't gonna fly with me. Bought some Trico Neoform replacements and so far seem like good wipers. They still wound up being $45 for both of them, yikes!

On my Frontier I could not keep blades on there. They would all wear out so quick. Finally had a salesman give me a set of RainX Latitude blades and they lasted about 2 years. They were getting worn out when I traded it in; I had come back from my trip from PA all in the rain so that pretty much wore them out.

Use a windshield /glass coating and you don't need wipers..... :rofl

My wife hates it when it's raining and I don't need to use the wipers. She thinks if it raining they need to be running...

By that chart I should have changed my wipers 4 times in the 1 year I have had my car, WOW! I am lucky if I change them every 2 to 4 years. Whenever I clean the windshield the wiper blades get a cleaning also. I only change when they start leaving trails or streaks behind and can usually get at least 2 years out of them.

I checked out that site and didn't even know my Camaro had 2 different sized blades on it. It shows 24" drivers side and 21" passenger side.

yea. good point. after looking at the warranty 3/36 that falls under normal maintenance item. not covered. they probably would have replaced under "good faith". but again, they only had very small tears on the ends. they might have looked at them and said "really"? i do keep all glass treated. and really glad i took a better look at them saturday morning. peace of mind for me that their new now. such a mundane and overlooked item, but so important. kudos to TRICO. their EXCACT FIT SERIES looks and is the same as OEM.

the above is a great tool for your vehicle!

My last ones lasted 2 years but I have also Winter wipers as well . As some PA folks in there , Winter s pretty hard on everything basically .

It's time for me to change out and was inspecting the Anco Transform.

Any users have an opinion?

One thing I did notice about Anco. Their distribution is slim.
