So how cold did it get for you to break out the nifty looking footwear? Nice fashion statement! LOL.

On my way to work yesterday morning it was a chilly -35F, warmed up to whopping -7F. Woke up this morning and it was 47 degrees warmer at a nice 12F. After yesterday morning this morning I thought we were close to summer. Even though we hit a nice 18F today we go sub zero for the weekend. High for tomorrow and Sunday are around -7F both days.

It's crazy how the temp is relative to what you are used too. Was walking my pooch the other morning and it was 10f and I commented to my neighbor what a "nice" morning it was and we both laughed...'cause it was -18f the day before. Only time I've experienced -35f without wind-chill was in the mountains in Quebec when I snowmobiled. That's crazy cold.

Dunno how you live with this - or how a battery starts your car at -35° reliably. It's like 8° here and it's depressing. The weather is all people talk about. I love when you walk in somewhere and someone is like "Is it cold enough out there for you?" WTF does that mean???

last night got to 28

We hit a sunny 36ish today after a couple days in the single digits. Nearly busted out the shorts and did a 2BM!

It was -14f last night when I got home. Got up this morning to a balmy 14f and it felt GREAT! Calling for mid 20's for the weekend before we plunge again. Gonna try to get the hose working to rinse off some of the salt. Water tap in the garage was froze last night. (attached garage that is insulated but not heated. First time I've ever seen the tap frozen).

Hope it didn't do any damage

Actually this winter has been mild. We frequently hit the negatives digits for highs for about 2 weeks in January. Kind of unusual to be this cold into February.

Most of northwestern Minnesota is rural living and I like it. I lived in the big city when I was young and didn't like the population so I moved back up north. It is definitely something to get used to when it gets into the negative temps. I look at it this way, you have to take the good with the bad and in a couple months we will warm up. One thing is there are no mosquito's here this time of year. Can't say that in about 4 months. Since I am older I do have a harder time tolerating the cold than when I was a teenager over 30 years ago. I would love to move south where it stays warmer longer but don't think I could stand the extremely high temps, into the 90's close to 100. We do get those days but maybe a couple days a summer. When you say "don't know how you live like this", from my perspective I say the same for those living in the southwest with heat and earthquakes. To me if the earth is moving below your feet I think something is telling me to get out. Same with living in the southeast with the hurricanes. My thoughts there is if something is trying to blow me into another state then maybe I should just leave. Even though they are rare in this part we do get the occasional tornado, maybe one per summer in the area. I don't like them but again just like earthquakes and hurricanes it is something you live with.

As for my car, is parked in a garage. Although it is not heated it was 7F inside and even at that temp sitting all night it is a little stiff. Yes, the frigid cold cuts the CCA the battery puts out a lot. Majority of the people in this part have block heaters in their vehicles. Our workplace is generous and has outlets for us to plug in. They are turned on the last couple hours before shift ends so the motors turn over easy even though the battery has about 1/3 less power at those temps. Unfortunately I don't have a block heater in my Camaro and I try to fire it up for about 5 minutes half way though the shift but forgot the other day. It turned over very slow at the end of my shift but it fired right up.

Also forgot to mention when I said how mild it was this winter. Well last winter really took it's toll. Last winter we barely made it into the single digits from Thanksgiving all the way into March. We hit a few days with lows around -40F and highs those says around -25F. About 20 years ago during our 2 to 3 week cold spell we hit -50F for lows for a couple days with highs hovering around -25F. At least this winter has been more the norm for this part.

Just to say if I had a pair of those socks I would be wearing them around the house also. Most of the winter my footwear around the house is a pair of woolies or my sheepskin moccasins or both.

Nice looking Husky you have there!
