I recently received some samples of Winner's Choice products to try; Wash and Wax, Pre-cleaner and Gloss Restorer, Polymer Finishing Creme, and Express Detail.
Wash and Wax: This is their car wash soap. Claims to contain a negative charge agent and causes a clear glossy film to attach itself to the paint. I don't really know the science behind it, but when I used it on the Diablo and Bentley I regularly clean (along with deionized water), they both air dried spot free and looked really nice. The paint felt reasonably slick...not freshly waxed slick, but not grabby either.
The only real drawback is that it costs $12.50 for a 16 oz bottle and it is enough product for 8-16 washes (according to the instructed amount to use of 1-2 ounces per wash). Other than that, it is a very good car wash soap.
Pre-cleaner & Gloss Restorer: Designed to remove light oxidation, light surface scratches and restore color and gloss.
The light abrasives seem similar to S100 SEC or Clearkote's Vanilla Moose and like those products, it leaves the paint real smooth and glossy. It does seem to either remove or fill in minor paint imperfections and shine seems on par with SEC and VM. However, in comparison to those two products, it isn't as easy to apply and remove. You need to use a damp terry cloth applicator, and if the pad begins to dry out, the product does not spread as well. In addition, it isn't as easy to remove either unless it dries completely, although even after drying, some of the residue seemed to almost weld itself to the paint, ala DACP, so it takes a little more elbow grease to remove all the excess.
Maybe I've been spoiled by the ease of use of S100 SEC and Vanilla Moose, however, overall, the Pre-cleaner & Gloss Restorer wasn't any more trouble to remove than Meguiars #7 (which tends to smear on removal). Anyway, the end results were very good.
Anti-Static Polymer Finishing Creme: Formulated with today's modern amino functional and polymer resins. Anti-static formula eliminates dust attraction on all surfaces.
I really liked this product. Very easy to use. Apply to the entire car then go back and remove. It leaves an excellent shine and very slick paint. I used it on a tan Mercedes S Class last weekend and this weekend, when I went to wash it, even though the car is parked outside there was very little dust on it, and it has been pretty dry and warm this past week. After washing, the paint still looked freshly waxed and was very slick still. I took a couple pics of the Benz, so when I finish the roll of film and get it developed, I'll post pics.
I'd rate its perfomance right up there with Car Polishes Final Polish, a polymer I really like. It is a little more expensive than FP though, but FP has light abrasives and I believe this Finishing Creme has no abrasives. I'm probably going to buy a bottle for further testing, since durability is rated at 6-8 months. It will also give me a non abrasive sealant option.
Express Detail: A blend of poly resins, synthetic and organic waxes formulated into a sprayable water system to make an excellent gloss enhancer and protector. It is also said to be anti-static.
Sorry, haven't had a chance to try this, but plan to on my brother's truck tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think.
All in all, I've been satisfied with the products I've tried (a big thank you to red98gt for the samples!), and other than the minor ease of use issues with the Gloss Restorer (and I am still trying to make some changes in the application process to see if that helps), the only other drawback (for some people) might be price. Obviously not in the Pinnacle price ranges, but still more than the average consumer products, however, you do get what you pay for.
Anyway, I still have enough product left for a few more cars (except the Wash and Wax), so I will continue to test and evaluate and I will also post pics soon.
