Windshield Products

What type of coating would you suggest would make cleaning bugs and road debris off of my windshield the easiest when I wash (I don't mean the cleaning product, I mean the layer of protection applied before it gets dirty)?

Wax, AIO, Aquapel, Sythetic Sealant etc?

thanks

Well, I have never tried wax, but Aquapel is good, however my personal choice is NanoSafeguard's glass sealant. Lasts a lot longer too, and does not leave residue behind.

If you don't mind cleaning/sealing your windshield every week, I would just go with Rain X, but personally I hate doing that all the time (-:

So what would make cleaning my windshield easier, having a coating of Aquapel or Wax?

About once a week (fishing day) my windshield becomes a graveyard for bugs.

The problem with some waxes on a windshield is streaking under certain lighting conditions or wiper usage. I would suggest Aquapel as a base and then apply a QD before your fishing trips to add a bit more slickness. ClearKote Quik Shine works well for me, but I haven't used AW so I can't compare the two.

If you try Aquapel make sure you clean all traces of previous window treatments, wax, QD's, etc. off so you have a good base for it to bond with. I'd use straight IPA followed with a window cleaner. It does last a long time and makes cleaning your windows easier, but it isn't as slick as some of the short term products.

A consumer version of Aquapel is available in Pep Boys. It is made by PPG and the name is not fancy. It is called "Glass Treatment Rain Repellent".

Now know im gonna hear it for this...But i have used Rainx and I like it despite it not lasting superduper long. How does AW compare to it though. I love AW for everything else but honestly never heard of it for windows

Long time Aquapel user here.

I've always a pre polish - Double Ipa Wipedown and then Aquapel.

I just had my windshield replaced last week however.

Love the beading that it Aquapel did.

However, the windshield in it's current state is insanely clear with no product

on it.

Start with either a good claying or windshield cleaner and 0000 steel wool. The trick for me is to get it as clean as possible before applying any repellent. I then apply my polymer sealant of choice when I'm doing the rest of the car. I had a customer insist I apply his Aquapel as he swore by it. He's been very happy with it's durability, lack of "hazing" and repellent ability. He also has rain sensing wipers.

I love Jeffs AJT on windscreens but any sealant is fine and has eliminated the need for wipers for seven years now.

Can be applied in seconds at every fuel stop during a highway road trip (after you remove the bugs)

Makes them slide right off

I've just begun to put glare micro and pro polish on all exterior windows for maximum protection and top with AJT now and then

I love the clarity it gives them and the sheeting.
