Windex?????

Anything wrong with using windex? I never hear anyone saying it's ok... I'm using cause I have so much of it! Seems to be ok with a MF and working out of the sun. Anyone?

Nothing wrong with it at all, there are simply better products available, especially for tinted windows.

The Amonia in the Windex can discolor window tinting. If it's factory tint (actual glass is tinted and not a film) then it's fine.

From what I know, Windex has ammonia in it, and probably other cleaners that cause the window tint to go bad.

Fortunately I have never used it on tinted windows to find out so I wouldn't exactly know what the dangers are.

I see......... been using for a while now and have'nt noticed any dis-coloration......factory tint as opposed to applied tint must be the difference. Nice to know, I was getting concerned for nothing... regards.......

windex sucks.

just try using it on the inside of a windshield and then drive into the sun.

stick to one of the various auto glass cleaners. there are many on the market that work great.

Ammonia and alcohol = tint stripper or discolourer and streaks big time

Most qd's are a better option as the really good ones will clean and protect the tint

If the windows are really dirty or have a heavy film on them I use windex first followed by the NXT cleaner saving my good glass cleaner and making it last longer.

One wet mf towel and one dry one is all you need. Do this in the shade. No streaks.

That's what I do and it works almost every time. If the water spots don't come out from that I'll probably use a cutting pad on em

Two words of advice: FORGET IT! :nono :LOLOL The only thing Windex is good for is for removing leftover window fild adhesive... For cleaning, many OTC products will do the job without streaks

And the main thing is to remove whatever you spray on completely. Streaks are usually the combination of dirt and window cleaner that didn't get removed. Here the product is less important than the process. However, there are lots of products that do better than Windex in lifting the soil and dirty film on auto glass. But, no matter what you use, keep wiping until you get all of the dirt and cleaner off the glass.

Thanks, All....... Great INFO Bottom line = windshield not that dirty and factory tint, windex is ok if out of sun (naturally) and remove ALL.

But I'm sensing Windex would not be most people's first choice......I just have so much of it......I'll use and be careful
