Will Dawn Remove Sealant too?

Hi, Guys.

First post and stupid question.

I guess that dawn dishwashing liquid is a good way to remove carnauba waxes, but will it remove sealants?

I'm hoping not.

Don't laugh, but for convenience I go OTC and going to Liquid Glass Sealant as I can't garage My Brand New Jeep Patriot and it is My daily driver. It seems to be one of the best OTC products out there for shine, and more importantly, durability.

I WANT to remove the Mother's Cleaner Carnauba wax (as good as it is) but preserve the Wheels that are stock painted that I used only Liquid Glass on.

I just want to remove wax, but not the sealant, to save time as I have little of that nowadays.

My thinking is that Dawn will only remove the wax.

Is that the ticket?

Buy a clay kit OTC...mothers and Meguiars are at ant decent auto parts store, it will do just what you are asking for

Dawn will probably remove the sealant or at least degrade it enough where it will not be protecting.

Thanks for posting.

So You are saying the Mother's Clay kit I bought awhile back will effectively remove the carnauba wax but only where I apply the clay to it, so unlike the Dawn soap that might drip down on the wheels, I would have more control over it what I remove or don't?

I like that idea.

p.s. I've been reading and reading Y'all's posts and have learned a whole lot; feel like I already know You Guys!

110% that's why I suggested clay over soap, you can control what you take off and where...That's what clay is designed to do:D
 
If you're doing clay - get Clay Magic, 10 bucks at autozone or advance, leave Megs clay on the shelf - weak-ass crap that I wasted $20 on.

Your car surface and the dirt that gets on it are a lot different from the food soils and dishes that dishwashing liquids clean effectively. We don't recommend them for cleaning your car.
 
I wonder if Proctor and Gamble released a product called "Wax Stripper" with the same formula as Dawn and sold it for 10x the price if they would sell a lot.
