Why must you "WIPE COMPLETELY DRY!"?

On 303 Aerospace and some other dressings/protectants, it gives you instructions and says "WIPE COMPLETELY DRY!" at the end. Why is this? does your plastic/vinyl/leather self-destruct if you don't?

....my guess? Simply to ensure you get the best possible finish and performance from the product by wiping away any excess.

Following these simple instructions.getting the surface wet (not just damp) with 303, then wiping COMPLETELY dry will give you a beautiful, like-new finish that repels soiling and stains and LASTS LONGER.

It is to prevent runs when the surface gets wet.

it also can get little blotchy when you wipe on and dont buff to even out/dry

Yea to prevent smeary marks and stuff and like Kean said to get the best possible finish.
