Why Is It?

That the stain that is the hardest to get out is always, under the guide rail that holds the seat in, or up under the dash so far you are on your 3/4 into the car on your stomach to get at it...or the stains that are in the back portion of the headliner, that has you leaning backwards and reaching so hard to get at, that it causes a head rush when you stand up...and what about cleaning the back inside window...your thinking...how did gum get this for back that I can't even slip a razor blade back into scrap off?

I really have to wonder what happens in some of the cars that I clean...was there a food fight on the interstate?...Did some one decided to leave an exploding pen under seat as an experiment?

I'm really making fun here, but it just seems like the hardest to remove stains are always in the hardest to get at areas.

This is why I started wearing gloves on cars that I clean that have multiple young kids. You never know what sticky nasty old food has been laying there.

I did a minivan recently, two young kids, and pulled out an entire shopping bag full of food, that had been partially eaten and or chewed. It was gross. And like you said all of the stains are in impossible to reach spots unless you start taking apart the interior.

The ones that drive me nuts are the stains along the side of the front seats along the side of the center console and on the carpeting below. There is no good way to get down in there and scrub it out...unless you take the seats.

But I agree with you...while I do get stains in easy to reach areas, the ones detaliers notice, are always the worst and they are impossible to get to.

For sure. Guess that's Murphy's law. I had what must of been a full bottle of pepsi dumped on a carpeted vertical support under the seat. It's hard to get the LGM to get good suction on a vertical surface. Then the rounded part where it meets the floor, can't hold the head vertical since there isn't enough room. Grrrrr

I'm not a pro but I'll only do interiors for close family and friends. I've seen stuff just way to gross otherwise.

Personally, I think the designers -- those who actually make the decisions as to the final production of the vehicle -- should have to get their air conditioned office dwelling arses into some of these vehicles and personally clean them. Not just on the ultra-clean ultra perfect mockup or prototype but literally get in and do the entire back window on some production vehicles. For instance, clean the entire back window on a CLS 55 or 911 4s; maybe have them try dusting out the area around the IP (sped-o-cluster) of an SSR or Mustang Convertible that's actually been parked where the wind blows; maybe at the least, try fitting a vacuum in the cracks between or under the seats of a 7 Series or an F250/350. Who knows, it might just help them design better vehicles, but then again, it might might also help in putting us out of jobs.
