Why Dawn?

Im relatively new to the forum, so I havent found this answer yet..So, why do we use Dawn to strip surface finishes, rather than Palmolive, or any of the other concentrated Dishwashing liquids?

More people have used Dawn and people looking for advice try to use what other detailers recommend sothey can expect a specific result to ensure the job was done the correct way.



The other soaps are fine.

It's not Dawn specifically. It's any dish soap without hand moisturers and the like, which would leave behind unwanted residue of some kind. Any dish soap will do the job, but one without scents or moisturers or anti-bacterial formulas will do the job better. After all, the purpose is to strip everything and leave as clean a surface as possible.

get one made to cut grease and stuff as these will work better at removing oils and gook.
